What are some small, effay, (messenger/sling bags) that are big enough to fit a water bottle, umbrella and e-reader that also aren't too big?

alchemy bags are pretty gross looking. they're made out of old inner tubes (super gimmicky)
Why is it so hard to find a cheap, good messenger baglet, that isn't too narrow?

Does the small Timbuk2 bag have enough strap length to hang at your waist or is it always like in that pic?
I wear an adidas manbag at festivals a la Zyzz style, maybe this is up your alley? They're sporty looking

It's a little bit smaller than these IRL
I got this bag for 4$ at a thrift store. Is it a messenger bag? The strap was so short I thought it was a purse. Great bag though.
