Most of my shoes suck. Trying to overhaul, but it will take some time because money. These are some of my favorites i've seen and WOULD own if i could.

any black sneaker advice? I really want to avoid old skools and black leather so I've been struggling. I dont really have a wardrobe to go with y3 or nmds, so i've been looking into higher quality black slip ons (see: bottega), asics, and maybe even a pair of suede or wool cps. thoughts?

Does anyone have experience with the Van Vault collection?

They're supposed to be higher quality than Vans regular stuff. Looking at pics online, the leather in the VV pairs looks noticeably better than the regular pairs.

My boyfriend has a pair of white leather regular Vans and they aged horribly and the leather crumpled in a really ugly way, so I'm a little cautious.

I want to get a pair of white leather slip-ons for the summer and I'm debating between spending $110 for the Vans Vault ones or $400 for the wings+horns. The wings+horns are fundamentally higher quality shoes and have a more elegant design than Vans, but I also think there's something appealing about having a pair of super basic, "classic" sneakers (saving $300 is also nice, and not cringing when they inevitably get scuffed on the subway is nice too).

I've been wanting a pair of Gel Lytes to wear as beaters. These look like nice for the summer and spring but I have some questions:

Are these versatile shoes? They aren't white, they're a light mint color (colorway is called Birch but looks greenish to me).

Could I dress basic and wear these with shorts or would it look stupid? I live in the bay area silicon valley where grown men wear ugly ass running shoes (the sparkly rainbow Asics) with formal clothing because it's comfortable but I don't know if it's like that in other big cities.

What color options do I have with these?
Any thoughts appreciated because I love the shoes but don't want to look like a clown idiot, or spend money on shoes I'll never wear.

They do have a height and narrowness to them that make them borderline Seinfeld shoes, like slightly dad-esque, but I fuck with that look. They're more comfortable than any nikes I've worn. High-tier comfort for sure.

Not something like air monarchs, sketchers or curry lows, but things like Asics, EQT 93/16's, some sauconys etc.
I really like how Asics shoes are really busy in terms of the design, but the monochrome and earthtone colourways still manage to make them clean and easy on the eyes. The suede just brings it all together so well.
Been looking to get some Asics for a while now but haven't found the right shoe for the right price. Definitely need to look into those Gel Kayanos

My Ultra Boost 1.0 Reflective is wearing out. Thinking about buying some Pure Boost to use for running and for causal wear a few times out of the week. The Pure Boost Clima comes in only two nice colors which is white or brown. What type of clothes would look good with these. It's a departure from wearing black shoes.

Just doesn't go well with most of my jeans and pants. Can't pin point what exactly is the issue, but I don't feel this way about UBs and NMD's.

I have wide feet and live in canada, which means that nobody in the world ships shoes in my width (it's either 2E or 15E++ when I need 4E) except NB. Yeah, that's what I've been doing most of my life. Got some 4E ugly NBs for the past 7 years and I don't want to go back to clown shoes if possible. I doubt custom-made shoes are affordable, and stretching from 2E doesn't work well enough (both the outer and inner sole would need to be changed and the rest still compresses too much, causing constant blisters and discomfort).

Don't get sk8 his I've heard a lot of people complaining about the overall comfort of them. Apparently 70s chucks are pretty comfy and the parchment colorway is pretty dope but it is memey. If you go w/ the margiela's don't get the navy? or black colorway. Go White. I'd also steer away from the CDG stuff unless you can find the whole heart CDGs rather than the hidden heart shoes. Not a fan of the vans and reeboks either, pretty heavily leaning towards the GATs or 70s chucks.

I have worn so many slip-resistant shoes for my moonlighting job that I have to comment. Just stick to what's on SRMax or Shoesforcrews, really. Filas are comfortable too once you replace the insole. Skip Safe-T-Step (uncomfortable regardless of style in my experience) and especially Soft Stags (dangerous -- SR treads don't actually work). Dr. Scholl's shoes just seem poorly made. Never tried Die Hard.

Another alternative is to wear whatever shoes you want and cover them with SR overshoes.
