Don't use the same style collar or fastener more than once (I'm sure it can be done but I've never seen it pulled off well), maybe try to mix up materials like a knit shirt under a cord jacket or something

i wear an oversized buffalo plaid flannel under a brown corduroy jacket. its cut like those denim trucker jackets. you can unbutton a few buttons and put a shirt underneath, or put a vest or sweater over top of it but under the jacket, or wear a bigger jacket over that, like a great coat or whatever.
