I wear 511 commuters for about 5 years now, the crotch area used to be reinforced, it's not anymore. They usually last me a year before crotch blows, then i patch them at the tailor and wear 6 more month until i get a new pair.

that's just one possible reason, which is not necessarily true for the OP, sometimes it's unavoidable and will happen at some point regardless weight

in OP's case my bet is on bike riding, which alone can cause the blowout
other possible reasons:
- if the denim is too tight
- sagging
- not washing the denim at all

I wear jeans to work on casual Fridays, and normal casual settings.
I have 4 pairs of jeans mostly Levis and Lee. They cost 20-40 bucks a pair. For work, I have like 7 pairs of slacks.

I have a black pair I wear probably 70% of the time and like 15 other pairs i wear the other 30%. There levis I got for basically nothing but I would probably spend about 200 on a pair of good black jeans even if they were just marginally better purely because I wear them so much and its really not much money at all in the long run.
