No, but close, the internet did, all of a sudden a bunch of kids are "into" fashion because they have incredible access to information. Before that fashion was a fairly enclosed space.

I'm scared of change, so I don't like what's happening in arts/culture because I believe that those drive morality and morality drives economics and economics drives arts/culture.

youre looking at a snake eating its own tail

one of the clearly identifiable and main sources of rick owens' fashion is hip hop streetwear. with the giant sneakers, baggy sweatpants, other one-offs like the 'jumbo' tee or five panel caps, this should be self evident to anyone who is even remotely culturally literate

rick also isnt the first, only, nor the last instance as far as menswear goes. other contemporary examples include balmain, givenchy, and lanvin. rappers wear that stuff, the designer/creative team responds to how it is worn on the street, they put out new designs. rip offs and watered down or overpowered versions of their motifs find their way onto bootleg markets on the streets of nyc and la, and eventually on the shoulders and feet of young black people, from whom designers like rick draw some of their inspiration. its hegelian dialectics. for earlier examples, see hilfiger, nautica, RL, versace
