What are some practical, modest, and comfy ways to decorate an apartment? Where do you get stuff for decorating? What does your place look like?

I'm thinking of getting a couple tapestries or rugs, but I'm not sure where to get them or what kind looks best. I also want some posters, but most posters are plebshit so I don't know what to do. I don't want a room that looks like a vacuous Ikea promo, I don't want a juvenile "mancave," and I want something less depressing than bare walls. Wat do?
>>
not bumping but I'm also interested =)

me too
>>
Well effay taught me less is more so I live in a concrete cube with a couple of blankets.

Very sleek desu
>>
I am missing a bunch of furniture
planned on going full milspec but it's too expensive
there's a used furniture store in my area that's open by appointment only but everything is fucking comfy...those guys have a good eye for comfy furniture....overstuffed leather chairs / sofas is pretty much all they have
since I'm on a budget (but don't want shit) is this a decent option? or does anybody have decent experience with, like, Ashley Furniture or thrift stores?
>>

i just got a 100$ ikea giftcard so i also need to figure out how to decorate my room without looking like its out of a catalog..

>vacuous
>wants posters

there's a middle ground here, and its tasteful objet d'art (in the modern sense) or two on a shelf. Books, records, a stereo, or anything that is aesthetically pleasing with a practical use but still occupies space is a nice addition to a room. posters are for kids and man-children, and unless you have tons of wall space art looks cheap and tacky if not done correctly.

If you must though, consider going to the library and looking up contemporary artists and buying prints of works you find pleasing, it won't be cheap.

Don't get posters, get prints, or at least get minimal posters and frame them nicely. Be creative with your decoration too, just be honest with what you like and it will be cool merely because it reflects your influence on your living space. Get a nice rug if you have wood floors, get a comfy, plain couch (if you're not brave enough to go for an accent colour) and cover it in cushions - you can find cool cushion covers at heaps of places, just gotta look, but make sure you buy decent cushions, the covers can be shit but the cushions should be good quality. Get some decent storage to hide your uncool shit, and put your cool shit out on display in a neat way (like the shelves in your pic). And just go for simple things if you're not sure, that way it'll at least all go together, then you can branch out later.

Thrift stores are where it's at. I have a really nice overstuffed leather chair and a really nice fabric overstuffed thing that could be almost a loveseat that came with an ottoman, a cute little wooden vanity stool I use as a laptop stand, and a a comfy looking kitchen table even though I'm a poor.

I worked at an Ashley furniture, and I would only go there if you are capable of being resistant to upselling- the salespeople make commission only, and they tend to be pretty aggressive about selling.

I want to post my place for concrit but I'm not brave enough.

bed is boring and pallets stick out too far ruining the look

If you live in an expensive city and have to live in a studio apartment, how do you not feel claustrophobic with such little space?

I am hoping to scavenge some pallets for a frame like this soon... I almost got some last fall but the snow came early. I like the colors you've used, but I think maybe you should store your weights where someone won't trip or stub their toe on them.

I'm posting my room but I just moved in so it's not that great. I have a better incense burner coming in the mail soon, and I know I need to figure out a better thing to do with my garbage, and I want to eventually get a hanging lamp.

That carpet is unacceptable anon. Rip it up and replace with wood.
>>
>>12257097
I rent, so that's not possible. I would love to, though, because wood is so much easier to keep clean. I might get some kind of floor mat or a rug to distract from how awful it is. I would dearly love to remove the closet doors as well, but I don't have anywhere to store them til I move out.

good god. please get a real bed frame. ikea will do fine if you've got a low budget.

nigga that looks INSANELY depressing.
TOP PRIORITY: LIGHTING. Get a couple lamps, maybe some strip lights. Brighten that shit up.
>>
>>12257086
Digging the art and nesting tables
>>
>>12257653
I have a little lamp on the nightstand...That green thing, it's a little vase lamp that has a nightlight bulb, and I like how it floods the room with green light. but the nightstand is too cluttered so I've been trying to think if I can move it somewhere else in my place and get like a little pendant light or something.

I took two of the bulbs out of the overhead light because it's a sad, low ceiling fan and I'm a tall migraine sufferer, but you're right that it does make the room look smaller. I'll see what I can do.

>>12257431
It's one of those memory foam ones, so it's really cozy and I thought I wouldn't need one, but it just looks so fucking weird. I promise a bed frame will be the next thing I do.

>Don't get posters, get prints, or at least get minimal posters and frame them nicely

even better, pay for a canvas art reproduction. they're relatively cheap places online to have them done. especially if you find a chinese reproducer.
>>
Anime posters or printings with frames are patrician tier.
>>
>>12257086
I like the Falange painting (the right one)
>>
>>12258346
I got it from aliexpress and framed it

your art is lame as fuck. looks like it belongs on an "indie movie" poster.

ok, thanks for the input

Pretty sure pallets are pretty toxic as they can be treated with various chemicals - definitely find out what the pallets were used for before you lock them in
>>
>>12260031
Yep, I've researched it. The building next to me has a hot tub and pool sales company and they get pallets from a source that doesn't treat their pallets. Thanks!

i like this, your door decorations are nice
>>
>>12260060
The big ones on the sliding door? I bought a really big shower curtain off Amazon and then used 3M mounting tape to stick it to the window. My apartment came with really awful vertical blinds. The curtain is designed to be mildew proof, and it comes in a ton of different patterns but I like green things.

Also, thanks.
