Last one died, rip. What's your opinion on stitched/steel toe boots?
What are some other boots with this design? i.e. minimal extras - maybe a zipper on the side or back - and a flat crepe/wedge sole. The ones pictured are Damir Doma. I know Rick has some like this as well.
Any ones around $200 or less?
what are these boots called, it was in the last thread
I think I remember someone saying they were paratrooper boots, but that's too vague
I don't really like this. The zipper with double laces is really, really busy. Still, I appreciate their uniqueness.
Personally, my favorite milsurp combat boots are the Vietnam-era Ro-search ones.
Fair point on being busy, then again, they offer a lot of adjustability for the fitting, depending on whether you tuck or blouse your pants (adjust the laces).
Otherwise, the zipper is a nicely fast and comfy way to get in and out of them.
Julius Combat boots are also modelled after them.
Bottega, Churchs Beijing
Anyone know where I can find a pair of boots like pic related? I love mine but god damn, time has thoroughly fucked them up.
The damn 32$ shipping is putting me off getting the Austrian boots from kommando and he seems like the only reliable seller. Anyone know any places that ship to/are based in London I can get them from?
wanna buy them new?
i mean they're austrian boots... why not buy them here before you leave the EU?
If you're not put off by the price of a new pair you can find them e.g. here:
there are a few manufactors in austria which make them for the austrian army, Steinkogler is one of the best
Idk boot brands that come in my size besides the ones on mr Porter which are too pricy for me.
I'll check em out. Hopefully they have my size. I would have bought from eBay until I found out the seller is shitty
Cheap fag here
/fa/ thoughts on Golden Fox?
Old thread died before I got any answers
thinking of getting these. Do they run true to size or should I order a size smaller
Eh.. You can get someone to proxy it for you, but shipping from Germany to non-eu is about 40 usd, cause the boots are slightly too heavy for the 20 usd shipping option.
BUT - if they happen to be on sale, they're like 40 eur new, which puts them at roughly 100 usd with shipping, which still below the rrp of 150 usd new.
Pre-owned pilot boots go for roughly 40 eur, too, btw.
same construction, but
>better than Pilot boots:
+ vibram sole
+ leather strap for holding the zipper in place
>worse than Pilot boots:
- extra bulk on toe box (maybe steel cap?). Good for safety, but ruins the silhouette
- lots of stitched pieces on the back part, adds to ugliness
I'll still pay attention to the thread. Personally don't have them, but was deciding between Austrian ones and the pilot boots. I like the convenience/comfort of the pilot boots, but the Austrian ones just look nicer and are more versatile I'd guess
Guys... you do know that the austrian boots that are discussed here are more or less the office boot of the austrian army, don't you?
They are in no way bad boots, but are worn while doing mostly everyday service.
if we had to go on marches and other outdoor activities we had other boots,
if you care to know google "Bundesheer Feldschuhe schwer",
as the "Feldschuhe leicht" ar not padded, the shoe tongue (is that the right term?) doesn't go up the whole boot and so on.
well, there's always a trade-off between utility and aesthetics when it comes to milsurp.
The everyday average joe will do just fine with the light boots, while still looking presentable, same with the German heli pilot boots, that are by no means outdoor boots.
agreed. Why would anyone try and look fashionable while doing outdoor stuff anyways. You're not doing it for show to impress others (in general) after all.
You don't happen to know whether milsurp boots can be resoled? I'm kinda debating whether to replace the wedge sole on my pilot boots with some vibram
what boots will look good with pic related?
thinking black leather. any suggestions?
I have pic related. What sort of oil should I use to moisturize the wooden sole? How often should I apply it?
What are some alternatives to Niggerlands? Something I can walk into a store for, Viberg's are a bit into the future for me
is there no hope in finding a pair of combat boots with a slim toebox?
ive bought danner GTX, nike sfb, palladium baggy leather and austrian paratrooper and they've all had really wide and square toe boxes. i think the slimmer ones were either the paratrooper or palladium, but is that as slim as they get?
Checked out Altama, they seem like some genuinine high quslity military boots, I like them, but I feel like they might be slightly over the top for my average outdoor activities (Hiking/trekking, fishing)
Only if you're walking in mud, lots of rain frequently?
Just look up clarks desert boots and go from there, no use lowering the bar of this thread so low.
Plz do not bother.
Yeah, they ignored that part, because it's not really a thing.
Shape is atrocious, hard to judge actual quality due to the photo quality though.
They should be provided they're welter and not just glued.
Pretty much dude, you might be able to find a "combat boot" from Rick or SLP that has a slim profile, but generally the functionality-prioritized boots are gonna have wider toe areas for balance and traction.
I live in the fucking Philippines
finding stores is hard, there's only one store carrying Red wings and some carrying Doc Martens, that's about it.
trying in store is hard, I like Thorogoods and danners but can't find any stores carrying them
First off let me say that there's zero guarantee here but it did work for me when I was ordering Red Wings - visit http://feetlot.com/
- what you do there is search for a shoe model that you already have and fits well, then see how it compares against model you don't have in size.
>be slightly over the top for my average outdoor activities (Hiking/trekking
You call it hiking/trekking, the military calls it rucking. Wouldn't know about fishing tho. The price-quality is good. Though if you think they're too much, don't get 'em
Not Philippines, but I know this fucking feel. This e-commerce thing is starting to burn my ass
Yes, blouse your pants
I know its fucking milsurp, that doesnt mean that it magically has to be sold by a dealer in my country or in europe. I already googled it and checked my regular surplus onlineshops. Cant find the boots, only the version with the heavy sole
I'm thinking of copping some Palladium desert boots once I get back into work and have a decent stream of income.
I like them in grey but they're so expensive, would the magenta and black ones go well with black jeans/darkwash?
I bought a pair of Coke haan chukkas a few weeks back and people keep mistaking them for dress shoes. It's pretty fucking annoying because I was just going for a casual looking pair of boots.
What do. Excuse my autistic lace tying
I always get scratches on my leather boots, especially on the toe box, and I have no idea where they come from. I have a feeling it might be about the way I walk/sit (move my feet a lot when sitting) or is it just a regular thing
I feel like they're something to be expected, and yeah, where I live, the terrain/paths is not very even, I also walk up and down stairs a lot regularly. But it would be nice to make them look better, heard there are balsams which can help
want to cop these but i dont like the toe bump
is there any way to get rid of it?
I got white laces on mine. Only person that said anything is a guy I work with, but he's in his 40s. I don't think the kids these days know about that stuff. Or at least no one's said anything.
Hi guys, been stuck with pic related for some years now (parents got them for a trip, ended up not needing them and just taking up space on my luggage fml) and i won't really get a chance to wear them here in snowless Uruguay.
What would be the quickest place to sell it? E-bay? Really new to the whole internet selling thing, would appreciate any tips or input thanks
If it's a derby boot, I always straight lace them. docs/similar boots were always straight laced, still makes me kek when I see people not straight lacing them. As for lace colours, literally no body cares unless
ne love for red wings? easily the best shoe iever bought. three years on n i still love those things. not some stupid cloth ass chukka bullshit.
bullshit theyre fucking monkey boots, how can they possibly be easier to wear for a girl? What you mean is youre fat and or short and or hideous and nothing looks good on you. A normal non descript boot is not a difficult thing to style.
First of all, i don't know why everyone keeps calling them paraboots, they are not paratrooper boots, but the standard austrian service boot.
What do you mean with "effective operate"?
They will do as good as any other similar army boot, but if you think of heavy weather situations they won't be good enough.
This is not what they're meant for.
But i'm pretty sure that every army gives their soldiers footwear for different situations.
Also, since people seem to like austrian boots google "Steinkogler Segeltuchschuhe".
These are the inofficial hot weather boots (you don't get them from the army, but are allowed to wear them), and i think they look great, especially in sand.
You think if I wear red laces on black boots in California people will think I'm a Nazi?
I have long hair so I don't look like a skinhead.
Oh shit that question already got asked. Silly me.
Read the Wiki. Red Wings has work boots, so does CAT, Altama was mentioned earlier, do your research 'cause no one here will
Unless your skin is burnt, don't bother. Safest as in most versatile, right?
I think they are true to size, at least according to google. They were original made for Czechoslovak military, then Grafters, and then other companies tried their own designs (Solovair, DM, etc.) Grafters are still counted as originals
Wanted a pair of beaters, camel leather feels great and I really dig the texture.
> tfw all these clueless faggot plebs are still wearing doc martens and timberlands in 2017
> tfw doc martens went full pleb around 2011 when every starbucks hipster and normie started wearing them
> tfw timberlands has always been for the sort of idiotic people who buy beats by dr dre headphones
> tfw all these "german paratrooper" and dadcore boots look like something a gay person/hipster would wear
> tfw none of you have posted the boots im currently wearing
feels so good man
Are Red Wings worth it? They're like $100+ more than similar quality boots. They looks so nice but I'm a poor-ish fag, so I'm not sure if I should shell out the cash. I could definitely use a pair of good quality boots that will last a long time.
Cop R not? What would you do to make these less completely white? Would adding some black make them more effay?
Serious question. Are you a gay black man? If not, then these boots are a bad idea and you should reflect on why you thought they were cool enough to actually consider purchasing them.
Definitely cop, but don't do anything to the color other than letting them get dirty.
What do you plan on wearing them with? Gonna do lunar core stuff or maybe copy some Raf looks?
i personally dig this, though i'm not a fan of the laces
on another note, what would you guys call the style that all saints has in general? i can't really put my finger on it
I'm looking for some cheap(ish) 8-inch leather boots. Are Doc Martens 1460s an alright purchase? I want something that can deal with the light snow we're getting in Seattle, but I don't want actual snow-boots. I was really banking on it not snowing this year but now I'm screwed because I've only got pairs of sneakers and leather shows.
As an aside, does anyone know how their Chelsea boots are? It's hard for me to find decent men's Chelsea's that aren't way above my price-range.
Depends on what you expect to get for your money, honestly. Asian-made DMs nowadays end up losing the heel of the sole within 6 months, and don't be surprised if the the sole around the balls go, too. They tend to slip in snow/ice, too. I haven't personally experienced anything other than those issues. You can probably do better if you look around, in all honesty.
Oh damn, thanks anon. I've been going through the sticky's suggestions but most are for dress boots or hiking/old-style work-boots. I kinda like the chunky-but-not-busy way Doc Marten's look.
I have a pair of charcoal and i think they look nicer when worn in. Might just be me not liking the overly clean black look though. the boots themselves are amazing though, but you'll nee some warm socks if you're in a cold area
Well they're surplus. So places like eBay and Kommando store are the best place to find them. If you want the exact name so you can search yourself the tags on mine say
>heereseigentm alpschuh MADE BY KSBW
Did I fuck up copping those? Is it bad if they are one or two sizes bigger? Should I just wear boot socks or give up?
They look like British ranger boots, except shorter. Even though they're meant to be turn with thicker socks, that already look large, and getting a size larger can look very awkward, and feel very loose. Fit on shoes/boots is as important as for clothes
Those are Rangers from EMP right? I was also thinking of copping a pair, they seem to get dope reviews due to their durability, plus i already have huge calves and the steel-toes seem like a decent addition.
But yeah, i've seen people wear those in concerts and on the street, usually people say that a size down or size up will work fine, but you should probably be able to return them if they don't feel good even with wool-socks or boot-socks. Idk, that's just my two cents on the issue.
The stitching on mine has already went darker after +4 months of use, yours probably will also get the same effect. And yes, you can paint the stitching. Or get these http://www.ebay.com/itm/Solovair-14-Loch-S14B-BK-Schwarz-Made-in-England-Stiefel-Leder-Schuhe-Neu-/232100794764?var=&hash=item360a49118c:m:mUeh_oYSLahndbqwqbGoQtg
Solovair also has ones with (white/grey) stitching on the outside if you still want the stitching, or like anon showed, stitching on the inside. Same as anon, my stitching started to go dark as well
hi /fa/, i hope this is the right place to ask, but im looking for some boots like the ones in the picture, what do you call this style? and any idea where i can find some like them?
all ive been able to find have had a lot of plateau(?) in the front, which i dont really want.
Dug these out of my closet. Haven't worn them in years. Should I buy laces and clean them up or buy a new pair of something else?
I said it because HDs are oil leaking pieces of shit with no horsepower. The only person I'd expect to wear those is a mid 50s lawyer who is a weekend warrior going through a midlife crisis. I just don't like the Harley brand is all
i really like these guidi hikers, much more than any of their backzips. i've mostly been wearing rick these days and think these would fit oddly well since they're so bulky. i don't have any rick shoes though, so might get some creepers instead.
Fair enough. I wear my pants over the logos though so no one would know they're HD's.
I like them because they're less chunky than most combat boots but maybe I'll take a look at the doc Martin 8 hole monos instead.
Anyone have experience reselling boots? My brother-in-law works at Red Wing and is offering to sell me factory seconds, and I'm just wondering if there's a market for reselling boots like there is for reselling sneakers.
Pic related. I can pick up multiple white moc toes for $75 and try to resell them, but I'm worried bcuz Concepts only ordered 150 of these and still couldn't sell them all in 3 months (at $320).
Interested in hawkins/astronaut styled boots, solovair offers them in 6 and 11 eyelets and in oxblood or black, I think I'm leaning towards black, although not sure on the eyelets, anybody had any experience with astronaut boots?
i've only ever had autism shoes. are these boots nice?
also i think i want something like the Nike Flyknit for when its warmer, is this acceptable? the shoes i have now have been coming apart for years. are there any other shoes that i need?
These were £200,
Worth every penny.
You cant really see but they're a dark green.
don't get vegan boots. those boots are nice tho, i have a pair of leather-1490's myself, but as for durability, they're not that good. get solovair's instead, pretty much the same boot in looks + better quality.
Yeah don't get vegan boots, they're shit quality, its not like they kill cows for their skins, they just get leather from cows thatve already died and would otherwise go to waste
I got these for free. They are very functional, but am I going to be beat up by anti-fa for wearing them in an urban area?
The vast majority of leather is a by product of the meat industry and if thats your POV then surely you wouldn't want your money to go to a corporation who 'contributes to the death of millions of cows every year'
Go for the Altama jungle boots, a bit more pricey but waaay better quality
I have both, but the Rothco soles wear down much too quickly, so I keep them around as my backups
The altama boots just look and feel way sturdier
>mfw womens boots will never be made as durable as mens while staying fashionable
>caring that much about durability when i'm cycling half a dozen pairs and they'll be out of season before they're worn out
Meanwhile guys are wearing their dad's dad's dad's boots and look like clueless Neanderthals.
Redwing Heritage. These are much more comfortable than I though't they'd be with only a built in leather insole.
I'd be happy to buy a pair off you for a slight raise in price, but I wouldn't be going anywhere near 320 (and I don't think you'd have much luck selling them for a price like that anywhere) since you're right; the original release price was ridiculous, and there definitely wasn't any resell value with the original factory first releases. Email me if you're interested.
Depends on what you mean by fashionable. If you mean the "flavor of the year" tripe that most women enjoy wearing because it makes them like all the rest, then maybe not, but good boots for women can be found, as long as you're willing to pay the price. If you can't find what you're looking for in a store, maybe consider MTO boots.
