The symbolism and style is hyper generic with a touch of edge. I'd shy away from any blatantly obvious statements such as daggers or compasses over your heart. Try to think of something that isn't so explicit. Maybe try designing something yourself? If you don't really care about what people think then do what you want because I'm probably overstating things. It's just my opinion people are far too willing to get cheesy tattoos.

I genuinely love tattoos that have been thought out well and work together all over the body, so no mixing of styles and other dumb shit like that. Ideas that look interesting on a first impression.

The problem is, I really have no idea what to get. I'm the most boring and uninspired person I know. Nothing really meaningful has happened in all my life, nor am I passionate about anything other than clothes and techno.

I love what this guy does (https://www.instagram.com/jondix/ - scroll down and look at the bigger pieces), but I have no interest nor relation to Hinduism, and if I did get it people would compare me to that tattooed model (it's his artist). I really like realistic black and grey stuff when it's done good, but this is really where you have to come up with your own ideas, and I don't feel like getting something generic like an actor's face or a tiger and roses or a statue (which looks good but is really overdone).

I know the obvious answer to this is "well don't get tattoos if you don't know what you want", but every day I feel like I want them, I look at photos every day on Instagram of artists I follow, but it's always the same stuff.

I only have two tattoos. I have a rose and a thistle on opposing sides of my arm - I was brought up in Scotland and England.

If I was going to get more I would consider a willow tree, because of an event event in my life that happened underneath a willow tree, and also because I used to live next to one.
I also lived on a boat for an important year, so I would consider something to do with that.
Just look harder for things in your life. Consider what was in the background at significant events.

When I was in the royal marines, I didn't even think about getting a tattoo until near the end of my deployment. I've seen and done some horrible things in my life so when I came back to blighty I did a lot of volunteer work which prompted me to get two tattoos of the words "angel" and "devil" in chinese on my left and right wrists so that I can remind myself that I am capable of doing both good and bad things.

10 years from now I'll look at my wrists and still have profound thoughts of what went through my mind the day I decided to get these tattoos but the idiots who got them because they like videogames will only see an outdated, obsolete franchise.
