I imagine if one were to interpret a lyric(s) and base a design around it that would be ok, however a theme that combines an image and lyrics without expressed consent from the artist would be totally illegal, as production is the end goal. Looks a little better, but is there a reason the text has to be warped at all? The original has normal lettering, just rotated.
Both C's just look awkward, and changing it to another medium such as embroidery will just enhance that.
Don't get me wrong, the coloring/layout/concept is great, and I'd definitely cop, but there's no reason to do a halfway job on any part of it.

Also, I'm curious to see how that would look in something more geometric like Futura bold

I am unfamiliar with GIMP. I am using a text to path tool. The first drawing was made using the default GIMP text to path tool which simply bends the text around a path. In the second design, I used a plugin that corrects some of the warping that occurs.

Only thing i could find at the moment

i have quite a few ideas for patches and already set up a bigcartel, but i cant really afford to get patches made in the first place. i guess ill just get 15 done as cheap as i can get it and see if people would buy them at all. at least it's pretty easy to get others to advertise for you in the patch community.

There probably isn't much price difference between 15 or 50-100.
It gets much cheaper as you up the amount. you'll be paying a really high price per patch for 15 patches.
Best to save up if you need to, and post your designs to see if you get enough interest first.

Not necessarily related to patches, but I'm patching a hole in my jeans because I suck too much at sewing to try and just stitch it together proper

Should I sew the patch on top of the fabric, or underneath? I'm leaning towards underneath since I don't have to make sure the patch is a perfect square at that point and it looks a little less out of place
