Why would you want to be a psychiatrist if you study psychology? Why not become a psychologist? Psychiatrists are literally just doctors of medicine who give you pills, not actual doctors of the mind.
>>
>>12112848
Don't know about UK, but standard path in US is to start 4 years of med school at 22, choose a specialty and do residency for a few years (1 yr to forever depending on specialty), and then practice.

I'm an oldfag/nontrad, did a PhD in Neuroscience and worked in research for a bit before starting med school at 28. It's a fun gig for the most part.

>>12112869
Many patients (but not all) find medications to be helpful. However, psychiatrists can and do give psychotherapy, but the way medicine works in the US discourages this. Blame the insurance industry

Goes to "party"

If you've never been to a party of late 20 year olds, it's married people with kids pretending they're happy.

These fuckers spent a Saturday night patting them selves on the back for having kids, voting Clinton and agreeing with each other on how the 2nd amendment needs to be repealed after the airport thing.

And you can these fucks are miserable to all hell and back.

You gotta learn how to love it if you want to get into any engineering. Funny enough, I sucked at mathematics when I was in high school but still majored in it in college. The only reason I got this job is because I programmed and really worked hard to get experience outside my CS minor.

It pays well, don't really like the people around me. So the only tip I got is to love programming and love math or its going to eat you alive
>>
>>12126117
>How are welding jobs in California
This is really impossible to answer, depends entirely on the specific job. Some offer shit pay and dangerous conditions were you work with retards, others are top notch shops that follow proper safety standards and can pay very well.

>how hard is it to get in the industry
It's trivially easy to get in on the low end. Moving up involves some skill, the ability to pick up new techniques on your own, and time/networking. There are some very good jobs available with great working environments and pay but those obviously hire more experienced people. The great thing about the trades is that there are companies that hire with very little to no experience and then train you up over the years. Pay will still suck as a beginner but the working environment will be top notch and again, they'll pay to train you.

People think of LA as being all about the entertainment industry but for a long time it was the aerospace capital of the world and there are still plenty of those jobs around. LA is also one of the largest manufacturing bases in the US.

Have you done any welding before? If not, I would suggest taking some welding, machining and maybe aircraft maintenance or avionics classes at a community college to see if its something that interests you. And be prepared to live very cheaply if you don't have money saved up. CA and LA in particular are pretty pricey if you want to live/work somewhere desirable. It can be a difficult place to move to if you're used to lower COL areas.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

ivy league freshman studying international relations, hoping to go work in Washington after I finish

I'm trying to pull off ametora/ivy style but it's too 20th century and I'm a little too white trash for it

Electrical engineering and computer science student living in Ottawa, not broke but can't spoil myself too often, I don't think I'll make it to graduation and I want to do more art. I listen to Classical French music and rap/R&B. Interested in sneakers but can't afford to start buying them and don't have time to waste on limited releases.

I love it but full ivy trad aesthetic is a little hard to pull off for me. Any ideas on what I should do?

Try to incorporate 70s amecasi with the trad stuff sans the ridiculous farah bellbottoms with musk cologne.

This seresho owner has really nice fits

Also some anon put up a scan of My Super B Class Archive (1970s Vintage Clothing Guide) somewhere which is more item oriented than fit specific but that should have this sort of thing.

Specifically, while keeping the basic items for "trad", such as the OCBD, khakis, shetlands, wigwams, and penny loafers, incorporate more casual items as well. One example is the "Heavy Duty" style also from the 70s.

To be honest you could just rip off the more casual fits from Take Ivy since "American Trad" was largely dead in the US by the time VAN got around to creepshooting actual ivy league students anyway.

I'm a social worker in Vegas, I'm 6'1" and hover around 200lbs. I carry a concealed gun on my waste of significant size. Good luck.

I'm a life counselor (no special degree or credentials or anything) in Chicago. I normally wear business casual.

Some woman who is an executive for a fortune 500 company came into my office today for a consultation and ended up leaving after 15 minutes because she didn't think I had enough experience to help her (I.e. I'm too young). No skin off my bones though because blue collar and no collar people come through and pay $120/hr to shoot the shit with me with no regrets.

Should I wear a suit or something nicer? Was thinking maybe at least a sport coat. Currently I just do slacks and a button up
