My GF got this jacket for me as an Xmas present and I really like Carhartt jackets but can't find the right fit. Does the fit on this one look too big? My GF believes it will "flatten out" over time.
This is size L.

I'm just wearing sweatpants in this pic but normally i'd be wearing this jacket with jeans and boots.

Carhartts fit really big, you should prob go for a small or medium. And yes they do break in and flatten over time
