What does /fa/ think of purposeful distressing?

My opinion is that it's not very useful because You're destroying Your clothing on purpose

It usually looks intentional and much worse than actual wear and tear.

if you have some favorit sturdy cloth it may look nice. but on purpose its just retarded. but i wore such used look too until i was 21.

Purposfully distressed clothing usually looks very fake, that's why it doesn't work.
I had a pair of jeans that actually got torn from multiple spots, but me (dumb teenager at this point) made a few tears with a swiss pocket knife and sewed them shut. Worked pretty well, but the jeans were already really beaten up.
I see no point in buying distressed clothing, aside from thrift-shop-finds.

*made more tears, fuking typos

I'd say it's okay for jeans.
it looks shitty and intentional 99% of the time, don't bother with it
