Seriously, I´m a huge apreciator of art. Literature especially. I study in a field that deeply involves many kinds of art.
I know my shit.
I also know, that there´s some art that can be appreciated on many levels and that there´s some art that can only be appreciated on a few or only one level.

For example I can appreciate J.R.R Tolkiens writings on many levels. I share many of his opinions, so I appreciate that, I appreciate the pure beauty of the words and I appreciate the "scientific" base behind it, grounded in germanic mythology, for example.

I cannot appreciate modern art on the purely aesthetical level, because it does not fit my personal taste and understanding of art. I CAN appreciate the idea of breaking borders behind it, tho - see?

I can only appreciate most Black Metal on the purely aesthetical level, because I do not agree with 99,99% of the opinions and ideas shared inside the genre. But the fact that I can´t appreciate the meaning doesn´t mean that I can´t appreciate the pure sound of it - because those are different levels.

What you need to understand, is that art, like many other things, cannot be taken as "ONE THING" because it consists of many parts. Music for example of pure Sound, Lyrics, Inspiration, technical know-how and emotions. I don´t have to appreciate all of them because I like one and I don´t have to hate all of them because I hate one.
