Sure there's such a thing as breaking-in a boot, but there's also such a thing as a last or size just not being for your particular feet (after all, there's no reason why some generic shape and arbitrary number linked to supposed length should fit your unique foot shape - and it is unique).

Where is the tightness for you?
If it's too narrow anywhere in the toebox then return them.
The sides (not in the toe) may stretch to some degree to accommodate a wider foot, but don't count on it too much.
If the tightness is in the toes then they'll never fit.

Tightness in the heel is manageable, all said and done, but it's not ideal and will cause pain.

Heel counters in most things today are plastic, especially in cheaper footwear. It doesn't shape nicely and comfortably to the heel like leather does, but it just deforms through repetitive blunt pressure through wear, hence "breaking-in" is not just your foot breaking in the boot, but the boot breaking in your foot at the same time.

Also, you could go up a size, but shoes that are too long will not be comfortable either and with excess leather in the vamp and the boot not flexing where it should when you step you'll get vamp bite or stretched tendons (or you'll just trip).

Sizing shoes is a fucking bitch and that's why most people out there just stick to what they try on first; most men wear the wrong sized and lasted shoes/boots for them and suffer through unnecessary pain and perhaps future repercussions in their old age because of this.

So I have started growing my hair out again for the first time in years (been rocking the low maintenance 1/8" buzz). It has gotten long enough now that I need something to control it. Tried a few things, American Crew Fiber, misc. stuff of the mens shelf at wally-world, and Anchor's various pomades. Using Anchor's slick pomade now and really liking it. The issue is, everything (especially the slick stuff) makes my hair look a good bit darker. To the point that my beard looks a different color. Using the same product in my beard deals with the 'color' issue, but I hate the feel of it. I have absolutely zero interest in actually dying my beard. Any thoughts on something that might help to darken it up a bit, but not feel like pomade?
