Basically I was a dumbass for pretty much all of highschool and for about a year after and I didn't care what kind of styling products I put in my hair so long as they were cheap and had high hold. I used Mitch Construction paste 5 times a week for 5 years straight. Over this time, my already Asian thin hair became very thin and it appeared I was losing hair. Last month I discovered all the shit in the product was destroying my hair particularly the alcohol. The alcohol in the product pretty much stripped the strands and made them thinner than they already were. I have since stopped using that garbage in my hair and have switched to Mr. Pompadour paste and so far nothing has gotten worse. I have also started to keep coconut oil in my hair for 24 hours every week. Will my hair (the strands themselves) ever get thicker or did I fuck myself permanently? Should I just buzz everything and hope for the best?
>pic related, my hair with the shit product in, about 2 months ago. As you can see the strands apear pretty thin and brittle, and you can see some of my scalp showing through. Ignore the weird facial expression.

Your hair looks fine. Stop using product, and get a haircut that's more easily maintained.

I can't even keep a nice side part without any product. What styles would you recommend for thin straight Asian hair. It just hangs on my forehead without product.
Also my hair may not seem that bad in that pic, but it's gotten worse over the years. Here's a pic from about 11 months ago. Even then it was pretty dull, but better than today.

I already wash it with shampoo every other day. I would wash the product out of my hair on days I don't shampoo, but I'm afraid it would dry my hair out more. Like I said in the OP, I've switched to an all natural alcohol free product for almost a month and haven't seen my hair get any worse since I've been using it. Should I stop using that too?
Most people would kill thousands to have a portion of your jawline

On the contrary, I think the reason it got so bad is I didn't spend enough time researching the effects of different products on my hair type. Besides, I usually just spend maybe 2 minutes max getting the product in my hair. I don't even use a comb or hair dryer, just my hands.
