Looking for something to style with the posted image.
Any suggestions? I'm thinking along these two different styles of long coats:
Style 1:

http://www.styleforum.net/content/type/61/id/2282233/ (Pls need a non fast fashion alternative, need something higher quality)
Style 2:

Dunno how style 2 (APC, Our Legacy, Acne Studios, etc) would fare. Might clash pretty hard.

Acne makes some pretty good ones; can't find the one I'm thinking of but my office is near their la store and while Acne isn't necessarily my style, I would cop if I needed something like this. Seeing/touching it in person sold me on the value for the money.

Yeah I'm not a big fan of the MFA/Stan Smith streetwear style. But I do want a long coat to pair with technical looking sneakers.
I was looking at techwear longcoats but desu the material is too light for the winter. Insulation layer is a must, which I really rather would do without.
You think MFA styled longcoats would go well with technical bottoms/shoes?

I think it can, yeah. It depends on the color palette of the overall outfit and the quality of everything else. I guess I don't know quite what you mean by "technical bottoms" - can you elaborate? I'm inclined to think that if a techwear long coat is too light for winter than tech bottoms would be too?

By technical bottoms I mean bottoms with that "techy" silhouette rather than actual technical materials (like nylon, gore-text, etc).
So like baggier thighs + a sharp taper down to the leg opening. Typical cotton, possibly a wool blend.
I've seen Qasa Lows being styled with wool overcoats and I think the contrast of the textures actually goes well together. Let me know what you think, I'm probably going to settle on a coat like this one: https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0624/0605/products/NOTRE-CHICAGO-ENGINEERED-GARMENTS-CHESTER-DARK-GREY-WOOL-HERRINGBONE-4137.jpg?v=1479247080
Then again, it still looks like that ^ + black bottoms + the sneakers might not blend well color-wise.

Hmm... Yeah I think that coat tries to hit too much in the middle for the type of blend you're talking about, you know? I feel like if you're gonna rock this look, you need to own the two poles of it - techy and higher end. I personally just hate jackets like that with built in hoods. I think it looks like a shitty compromise on a look that the person wearing doesn't understand.
I think a black wool (blend) coat in the right cut would work if you've got the wool blend pants to keep the feel consistent. I think you have to be careful with the pants for the same reason - you don't want them to look like some bad attempt to do one thing while using a different material - rather, you want them to be made well in a cut that is equally viable in techwear but made of the materials that matter.

Thanks for the well-thought out response by the way.
This might be something along the lines of what you were describing:

I could settle on a parka as an outer layer. Much easier to style especially with the kinds of sneakers I wear. But I'm trying to cosplay on hard mode.
Do you have any longcoat suggestions that I could look at? I'm really having trouble picturing the right blend that can integrate with cotton textured pants + techy (material and look wise) sneakers.
Part of the problem is that I broke left easy mode by adding a white sneaker (http://static.highsnobiety.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/21004525/adidas-originals-eqt-support-adv-triple-white-02.jpg) to my usual dark colorway and now it's making it a lot harder to find a single coat to create multiple working outfits with.

So really the restrictions I have are:
-Colorway that goes well with both black technical sneakers and white technical sneakers. Leaning towards black or a dark shade grey paired with a light top.
-Texture that suits cotton/wool bottoms + technical sneakers.
And of course, I don't have any good ideas on what might fit these restrictions.

This whole idea makes me think of techwear's influence on high end menswear from a couple years ago. No idea how easy these things would be to track down but just some examples of stuff to either look for or use as inspo:
(from left to right)
Dior Homme F/W 13 (1 & 2)
Bottega Veneta F/W 13 (3)
Balmain F/W 13 (4)
Mugler F/W 13 (5 & 6)
Sixlee F/W 14 (7)
Y-3 F/W 14 (8)
3.Paradis F/W 15 (9 & 10)
3.Paradis F/W 14 (11)
Balenciaga F/W 14 (12)

Took a look at Balenciaga's coats and I think this is exactly the texture/silhouette I'm going for.
Then when looking at cheaper alternatives, I realized I've gone full circle back to the MFA style.
I feel like this style of coat, while not strictly tech, can still assimilate pretty well with the tech style. What do you think?

Might end up going for some fast fashion replicas to test it out.
Lmao the end product could end up looking like this...
>>11975248
Shit, yeah, that's the one I was thinking of earlier. I'd say go for it/something like it.

Sounds good, thanks again for the tips f@m.
