Winter temps bumrushed everyone today and before I knew it my entire face was hurting from the cold. And so I decided to buy a balaclava since hats don't suit me.
There was a seam in the middle dividing the eye sockets in two but I removed it. Now it looks just like pic related
What do I combine this with to look less... threatening?

I wouldn't wear a balaclava if it's that cold. Moisture from your mouth and nose can freeze and cause frostbite. I'd recommend making the mouth-hole wider to combat this. Imo a neoprene mask with a warm hat is way better.
