I dont think it destroys an outfit but it really doesn't add anything in my opinion. I think when its worn casually like the left and right picture its ok but you will 99% of the time look like a dork if you wear it like in the middle picture. I don't think that bolo ties alone can really do much to an outfit therefor i do not see them being trendy
