Oxford shirts are the godamn staple of dressing well as a uni student. If you want to go that extra mile (and also risking looking like a twat) you can wear a blazer instead of a jacket outside.

Generally though, all kids of button down/oxford shirts are recommended. Tuck the shirt into your pants as well for an extra nice look.

Depends on what you're studying, but having a uniform makes things very easy.
Architecture student here, I wear:

> black toe cap oxfords from Loake 1880
> black t-shirt from Allsaints / black sweatshirt from ACNE
> dark charcoal grey (almost black) long woolen coat from Allsaints
> round sunglasses (CLASSIC 28) from SLP
> black wool beanie from Lanvin (for when it's cold)
I have two pairs of each (apart from the coat, beanie and sunglasses) and wear it every single day. It sounds very autist, but i get complimented for my consistent style all the time.

Try tutoring or get a weekend job. I tutor nights and work at a grocery store so I take home between 200 - 300 dollars a week. I also submit a lot of stories and essays to comps. and scholarships so I can get cash. Starting in winter I will be getting paid to work in a lab. There are plenty of ways to make money in college if you're not a lazy fuck.

Just buy fashionable basics with a good color palette and dress at least a bit better than the average normie.
Uniqlo's Merino wool sweaters go on sale for $30 a pop every now and then and they're comfy and decent quality. Good color selection
Levi's has sales all the time if you go on their website and look at the promo codes. Usually 30-40% off. J crew is a bit more expensive but they do the same shit. Quality is good and the fits are good if you go with levi's 510s and j crew 484 for pants / jeans. Get black and light wash denim, and then some khaki / tan chinos to have variety.
For footwear you can get all white leather sambas from Adidas, or some all whites from reebok for like $80 that are decent quality.
If you want boots Doc Marten has cheapish, fashionable boots that last a long time. Get monos for a sleek all black look.
Get one piece at a time. If you have even a minimum wage job you can afford this shit.

day to day I wear 1 pair of black jeans, 1 pair of black pants (both fit tight, pretty good quality), basic t-shirts (uniqlo), sweathshirts/pullovers and low docs. nothing too fancy but I hate looking tryhard so it's good. also if that's your thing, there are flea shops

Fuck I went to uni for one semester before deciding that I wasn't up to it at 18. 4 years of working, travelling, partying etc. later, I want to go back for a higher paying career, but I'm going to have to deal with immature little leftie shits while I'm there.
