I'm pretty happy with the derbies. They go well with yohji and CDG(S/H+) fits.
Idk why I do that with the CPs. I prefer how bar lacing looks to sawtooth lacing and I did the same for the 2 pairs of Lanvins but you're right: for CPs sawtooth probably works better since they don't have metal eyelets or waxed laces.

I beat the CPs to death. The black suede shoes are the same. I wear the MMs a lot but don't stomp around in them like an idiot. Virtually never wear the Nikes.

The other shoes/boots are worn often enough, but well taken care of.

wear whatever you feel confident in. As long as you have a shred of self-awareness and aren't literally autistic thinking you look great in horribly ill-fitting clothing, you pull off whatever you feel good in.

it might be easier said than done, but stop giving a fuck. that's the key to confidence. why should you care if some jabroni in trainers and sweats thinks you look like a tool or a fag for looking presentable? his opinion doesn't matter, and your professors will probably respect you more for not showing up to lectures looking like a slob. One of my professors once ranted about how it would be unacceptable for him to show up in what students wear, and how he thinks less of the students who don't bother to polish themselves up just a little for class.

That said, you should be dressing for you, and that should be what really matters. Wear what makes you feel good, not what you think will make you "fit in".

experiment with fashion, and maybe try something deliberately provocative. I'm pretty introverted and generally don't like drawing attention to myself, but I found that going out in a fit that was deliberately a half-step outside conventional actually helped my confidence because I felt it was more obvious that I was deliberately thumbing my nose at/choosing to ignore society's norms. Just don't go too overboard. Or do. It's your life.

derbies and oxfords are a lot easier to dress down than trainers are to dress up. eventually wearing them will just feel normal. You can wear a pair of brogues with just about anything.

fasion is a process, and you'll inevitably look back at an old fit and say, "what the fuck was I thinking?" It's alright though-- just go out in whatever you're feeling, temper your confidence with a little bit of self-awareness, and barring a random stabbing you'll come out the other end alive.
