same reason why people would tuck their pants under their socks sometimes.
alot of the time the visuals team will try something totally different to the eye to fuck with them. from afar sometimes it looks visually appealing but yeah. you go up and turns out its a parka not a long white shirt.
We want you to question us.

im only a 3rd year in uni. im also a fashion merchandising major. in experience wise. the industry looks for your retail experience. being at retail for at least 2 years shows that youve seen the trend cycle and the way season change works.
>>
>>11783832
unfortunately. yes, someone has to do the work. i had to clean someones bloody nose smeared on the mirror
>>
>>11783856
in my opinion for US, quality is getting better. depends on the collabs we make. for example. J+ collab was shitty to me. the knits were thin af. but Lamaire collab was the best. the sewn quality was amazing. the functionality of their parka was crazy sick. As a fashion major i had to study and understand construction quality. and i can verify that the construction on how it was sewn together was pretty good compare to F21 which is nothing but cover stitched and over locked.
>>
>>11783993
in our total list of employees there is a visuals team. anyone can sign up for it and stuff. but how it works is the corporate marketing and visuals team sends us the catalog on how the top apparel designers had in mind for how the garments are meant to be worn, so the catalogs are meant to be a basic guildline.
so when you see the small basic uniqlo stores. the mannequins look basic because thats what the guildline suggests. its only when you go into flag ship and super large stores is when the visuals get super freaky with it

>>
>>11785680
What are the colabs to check out this winter fall? In Canada, we only have a store in Toronto :( I'll go there by the end of the year probably.

Also, are airism underwear all its hyped it to be?
>>
Bump, wouldn't mind more interaction from OP
>>
>>11787604
I'd really like to know this as well, although as far as I can see the male version is not cropped, right? I'm hoping to get a cheap winter jacket

Also, do you - or anyone else - have any idea if Uniqlo U is gonna be sold out immediately or is it produced in very large quantities? i have no idea how hyped it is, it seemed to me like uniqlo x lemaire has gotten a lot of hype
>>
>>11788677

The Uniqlo x Lemaire Summer collab didn't sell out quickly at all, only parts of the first one.
Also I expect Uniqlo U is going to get restocked.
>>
>>11783725

In my store, the visual people put the hoodie up on a parka then put a hat on it. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills every day.
>>
1.5 year employee here to ask questions and weigh in.

OP, what store are you in?

Why do you think we actively say we have a "help yourself" system but put shit in a pile, behind an immovable 9x9, on an out of reach shelf?

Why do we insist on the retarded counting items and number tag system for the fitting room when all it does it slow things down, make a mess, and confuse customers when it gets busy. And in all likelihood, makes theft easier, not harder?

After the KAWS shit, why doesn't UNIQLO see the power of streetwear hype and customers, and just keeps bringing out crepe half quarter 5/8" georgette crop overized milano drape blouse in bright ass green. From box, to fixture, to sale rack without every touching a customers hand.

>>11787604

As far as I'm aware, stuff isn't shipping to stores yet. The whole thing is weird. Half the employees have every heard of it. Lemaire was kind of hyped to the stores, but news on U is silent. If you look at the collection preview, it kind of just looks like regular ass UNIQLO stuff. I'm not sure what the goal was, but I think it's just kind of going to be a "UNIQLO Black Label" kind of deal, not really a collab.
>>
>>11788842
It's not a collab because Lemaire is part of Uniqlo as a creative director.
>>
>>11788897

Right.
>>
>>11788777
Man, I missed the lemaire collab and only managed to get a shirt. There was some stuff left, but it wasn't my size. I touched some of the stuff and the quality felt way above Uniqlo's usual level. It also looked a lot more interesting than the bland basics Uniqlo specializes in.
>>
Do you get trained to be overly polite in a Japanese way?
When I went to the Berlin store the personal acted that way, it just seemed creepy outside of Japan.
>>
>>11788921

It's worth checking some local stores if you can. Last month I found a box full of it at the back of the stock room. I got the black and white parka, and the blouson, 3 stand collar shirts and the sweat overshirt for like 10 bucks each. $670 worth of clothes for about $50 bucks.
>>
>>11788928

Yes and I think it's a mistake. Honestly the only thing customers notice is handing things with two hands. But the enforcement of behavior has the opposite effect to western staff and I think ultimately it makes interactions weird.
>>
>>11783686

>>
How come floor staff are really helpful but there's only two people on the register and they are slow as fuck?

>>
>>11789896

We have a rule that if there are more than 2 customers in line, we call for backup. But it's possible they were busy with something else, or that the register staff were incompetent. What store was it?

What i highly recommend for UNIQLO denim are our selvage jeans
Theyre made from Kaiahara denim from japan, uniqlo is one of the oldest company to have a partnership with kaiahara. gap, j crew, naked jeans have the same kaihara selvage but sell theirs for $100+. while ours are only 49.90. good shit. highly recommend

its hard to say because UT collabs are so frequent. once they go out of season and are gone. its very hard to find it anywhere else again.

varies upon each countries. Here in US, corporate really listens to our customers. we would ask them how the fit is, if we get enough feedback, the corporate would actually modify the clothes to accurately fit for next season.
>>
>>11787604
unfortunately i only work at a basic store, so we dont get all of the collabs. were known to be "that puffy jacket store" when we first came to so cal (where i work) people really seem to like it especially since its real down feathers. other brands would sell same thing for over a hunnid. only problem is sometimes you get feather end sticking out which is normal. other than that. its really damn warm.. you can even roll it up and put it in a pouch.

>>11787811
as far as collabs so, im not sure how canada division is. but Uniqlo x Lamire is soo frickin dope. the construction quality is very good. and for the price it is. its pretty good, im not bullshitting.
as for the airism briefs. i really like them. when i sweat. my ass doesnt stick to it. my balls actually breathe.
>>
>>11788677
How Uniqlo is, theyre not a hype brand that sells limited quantity. if the consumers want more. well give them more. so dont worry about not getting a chance to get one.
for example. when KAWS released in my area (socal) there was a line for it. people cop'd is and started reselling like crazy, it was sold out like nothing in america. so the funny thing was that corporate ended up importing all the KAWS shirt from asia and sold it here since it wasnt selling as much as US did.
>>

im store: 61; LA south.
"ive actually never heard of this"help yourself"
-yeah i never really liked the whole fitting room process. but here in cali, we do get alot of thefts. our shrinkage was i think... 0.44 for this term.
-because uniqlo still have to stay true to their image. they dont want to transform into streetwear. they want to be the leading brand for your everyday wear. essentials and basics. that whole streetwear artist UT collabs and stuff is merely almost a side thing.
they hella make bank off ULD's in asia.
>>
>>11788928
yeah we do. every chat in they make us say 6 standard phrases that are just lame and everyone knows it. here in california. everyone is just... chill to the point where even out managers dont really follow it LOL
>>
>>11789880
US, south LA specifically.
>>
>>11789896
to be truthful with you. uniqlo has lost a shit ton of $$$ expanding to america. even though my store brings in the most $ in LA. our man hours are often cut. we yeah it does suck alot and trust us, it hurts to see long lines at registers. but its just at times. we only have like 6-10 people working usually
thats means
1 greeter
1 cash wrap supervisor
1 crash wrap person
1 manager who does manager work on computer
1 floor MOD
1 alterations specialist
1 fitting room attendant
so if youre in a line at uniqlo, please understand that were really short on manpower. and we do hate it when there is any type of lines.

And I'm not saying UNIQLO should become a streetwear brand, but it's almost a type of marketing. Something which UNIQLO is bad at and one of the main reasons it suffers in the US. Why put out another Warhol T-shirt that no one gives a shit about when you could have hypebeasts creaming their Supreme panties over a skeleton with Mickey Mouse hands print?

Are you planning to go through their store managerial training course? They held a session at my university in 2012 where you're basically an intern (forgot if paid) in the states for a while, go through training in Japan, and assuming you pass, you end up in a significant position of power in one of the stores they're planning to set up in the future.
>>
>>11790858

What's Japan corporate planning to do? Are they willing to stay, try something new and fight? Or do you see them pulling out of the US real soon?
>>
>>11798927

>it's not really help yourself friend, customer service is literally the top priority of any store

There is a whole page in the employee handbook about it being a help yourself system. I'm not disagreeing that customer service is a high priority, but the point of the store is that customers can shop it easily themselves.

But I would argue that neat piles of clothes that get destroyed when one item is taken, piles in deep out of reach shelves, piles on a shelf practically on the floor, and piles behind displays that cant be moved, doesn't really make it easy for customers to shop.

>>11800441

They're in too deep to pull out. Why would they pull out of the US market but stay in Russia? Their plan is global, but they just fail at adapting to local markets and demographics and think throwing rules and Japanese managers at the problem will fix it. Meanwhile ZARA and H&M throw out constantly changing styles that people want and stay ahead. You can bitch about their quality and rip off designs on here all you want, but they're number 1 and 2 in the world.

UNIQLO is number 3 but mostly because there is a store within like 15 minutes anywhere in Japan and it's like where everyone shops. If the whole of the US was only shopping at GAP, it would probably be doing well too.

thats only for people with already degrees. we call them UMC uniqlo manager candidate. they go through a 6 week training program and shit. for us associates. UMCs are the most hated at first. because they have to uphold a professional standard, and most of them dont know how to lead. and also because weve been here longer than they have, it feels shitty when someone is telling you what to do when they can barely perfect a pile of jeans.

I don't know if it's still up but for a while they were offering a $5 mobile discount. But the computer didn't actually care what numbers you type in.

Just ask if they're still doing the discount then read them 6 numbers and hope they don't look at your phone. It'll work.
