Here's some actual advice: go to a bar and get their house cocktails or tell them to choose for you if you're a bitch until you realize what combinations you like and then look through a big list trying what you might like for cocktails and then decide from there

For beer look at the different types of beers and when they're in season so you can get based seasonal beers and ALWAYS get something on tap if you're in a bar. Why the fuck would you go to a bar to get a bottle of Heineken when you can get some nitro tapped goodness or a great fresh local beer
