I have that exact pair in OPs pic. Pretty versatile and comfy. I honestly think the cleanest NB's are the black or navy 993's

I've always disliked new balance.

Nike has actual vintage tennis models (Meadow) instead of retro from a brand that isn't known for them at all for less.

it's only marginally better.
it's basically just better QC which you could do yourself if you compare different pairs.

20 years ago all NB's were basically Made in the USA and they didn't want exorbitant prices for them. now your average NB has the same quality as Nike minus most NBs lasting a little longer just because they are more clunky. 300 and 420 are the same shit as your avg Nike.

The entire 530 nb line is fucking sexy. I have yet to see an ugly pair of 530s to this day. I have a pair like these, but it has a blue/purple colorway.
