5-6 inches on top is optimal for someone with a diamond face. A nice scissor cut fringe type of deal would probably look good.

Honestly, a quality barber will be able to help you with these things when you go see him, too. They should be skilled enough at their craft to be capable of making styling decisions for X type of cut to make it compliment your facial features and your hair type.
