I wash the hair almost every morning and I use some kind of organic poo and conditioner every time.

After that I just dry it with towel and apply some mousse to the hair and then just blow dry it.

To finish it off I use a little bit of styling balm

Last time I got it cut I just had a normal undercut with a fade on the sides a bit.
This time it would be an angular fringe. The top would be more faded into the sides until about the temple and the hair would hang over the shaved part, along with the back fading more than the sides.
Also just really need to get it thinned out and textured.
How mine was cut was more like the picture on the left, and how this style of hair is cut is like the on the right. Although I'd like it to be a lot more similar to the picture in my first post.

I've just never had a haircut that striking, so I wasn't sure if I should go through with it.

What's a good alternative product to American Crew Fiber? I've used it for a couple months now, and I generally like the way it looks/feels in my hair, but it doesn't give enough hold imo. I don't want it to be rock solid or anything, I just don't want it falling back into my face in a few hours like it does with Fiber.

Pic related is pretty much what my cut looks like, just a bit shorter on the sides and back. As is I just get up, shower, dry my hair, then apply the fiber and style. What else can/should I be doing in addition to getting a new product?

So what I currently have is 3 - 3.5 inches on top front with an inch in the top back and sides being just a little under an inch. Previous barber fucked up my top back since I asked him to thin it since it was bulging but he just passed a number 2 over it instead.

Thinning shears won't help the texture of your hair. Wavy, curly, straight, you just gotta love with it. To get movement though, you can get some kind of hair oil and put it in your hair right out of the shower, and stop washing it in hot water. Over time this will make your hair healthier in general. Common oils to put in your hair i've heard of are coconut and argan oil, but if you go to the store to buy a jar of coconut oil the salesclerk will think you're going to use it as lube so if that bothers you, order online.
