Cara, moro no interior de São Paulo, e mesmo assim tem gente que dá um jeito.

Tem bastante marca nacional fazendo coisas legais, tipo Ocksa (meio ripoff de rick owens) e Cotton Project. O negócio é improvisar com o que tem aqui.

O maior problema,, eu acho, é o clima e o público em geral. Aqui no Rio você acaba sendo excêntrico se colocar uma bota Chelsea, que é básica pra caralho, isso sem contar o calor(mas isso é contornavel). Quando eu saio pra locais mais chiques eu entendo a que dá pra se vestir mais /fa/, o foda é o dia-a-dia. Numa faculdade(federal) não vão ligar mas é possível que riam da cara do OP.
