I like changing my homescreen/lockscreen regularly.
Often I use inspo of men or women for it.
Mostly without faces.
But people don't seem to approve
>think it is weird or creepy
>What is wrong with using inspo as wallpaper on your phone?

in my experience its mostly
>patterns
>their SO
>cars
>naked playboy girls (which is completely ok apparently)
>mountains/scenery
But inspo is apparently weird and creepy?

Don't forget their pet or kid. I mean, I love my dog, but I don't need his mug on my phone. I don't get the idea of having a background of anyone/anything you're constantly around.
For what it's worth, I usually have scenery as my background.
I think it's because the average person has minimal appreciation for outfits/fashion and have it as something they'd want to look at consistently. They just see some picture of a person that you clearly do not know, which is weird when you take out of that context. If you had a photo from a runway show, it would probably get less comments, especially if your friends/coworkers are aware of your appreciation of fashion and clothing design.
I studied photography, so I often throw on photos I really like, and since people are generally aware of this, I don't have to say any more than "I really like the lighting/composition/colour".
Then again, I rarely get asked why I have 'insert photo' as my background.

As a male i tend to have more female (fashion) wallpapers than men wallpapers. I won't deny that sexual preferences as a heterosexual male have to do with that. But apart from that, I also tend to prefer female fashion in terms of novelty to male fashion (not saying that male fashion cannot be inspired).
And mostly these women are
>looking away / not identifiable
>not celebrities / unknown to most people (even to myself)
These leads some people to say my choice of wallpaper is
>objectifying
>'pedestal putting'
....something I never understood.
I simply do not like having a person ( or in this case a picture) constantly stare back at me, independant
of how attractive the might be.
>pic is my current lockscreen

The family thing, I would understand if one rarely sees their family. But if one is a 9/5 worker to meets his/her family daily. Then again I don't have a family so i wouldn't be able to tell.
I just use something I like the aesthetic of

to an outsider they're not gonna know about your hobby and they're gonna think you're looking at the body of the person on the background.
Also others might be more sensitive to an 'invasion of privacy' thing, like, omg, pictures of random people on your computer what if they were shared on the internet without permission etc etc.
or maybe they just think you're stalking someone.
all told i think if you explain it (especially if you claim they are models) you can probably get away better. but people don't like to be open to rational argument about things they consider creepy, so best not to come off that way to begin with.
also, i assure you that most people don't think nude models are an acceptable background.

I personally always find people's wallpapers to be an interesting thing to notice about them.
To a certain extent it can show their (current) interest (movie, series, book, fashion, etc.). You won't be looking out for it of course, but it can be an interesting conversation starter.
I am at university and some guys do have penthouse tier backgrounds / celebs. Girls (and guys) seem to be completely ok with it. Some may even find it cool.
But when I use inspo as wp, people start questioning my sanity.
>why have wp of girls you don't even know
I have explained it and most people who know me (while having accepted it), still find it 'weird'
>dat guy wit dem naked gurls on his fone
>friend uses WPs like this and doesn't get 'bad rep'. why?
