DISCUSSION STARTER: Epic Vs Goretex Pro
I gotta go to work but feel free to complain about Toronto TechNinjas and me not uploading Super Modern Wardrobe yet
>>10985840
sufu's new techwear subforum is the cringiest shit ive seen in years. its almost turning me off techwear its so bad
>>10985850
Is it just an Erollson circle jerk? I've only been on sufu a handful of times
>>10985860
they got a containment board for techwear now
http://supertalk.superfuture.com/index.php/forum/41-supertechwear/
the waywt is full of shit like pic related
>>10985850
yep.
This shit and the recent wave of interest in the brand has really turned me off from it all.
I don't mean that in the sense of 'Acrnm is popular now so I don't like it'; the best I can describe it is when goober ninja was catapulted into the lime light because of high profile celebrities wearing Rick. It feels like the same thing over again, with tons of imitator, fly by night brands popping up that try to recreate the aesthetic (void the brand, tons of other budget goth ninja brands and now shit like guerilla group and 4d).
Epic for most days, gtx if it's going to be storming.
Epic is just so damn comfortable. Goretex is just noisy and stiff.

I think it's more to do with the fact that Acronym has their hands in so much right now. The Nike collab seems to be what pushed it over the edge.
Also as a serial lurker of sufu I think the only tech brands that ever really get posted about are Acronym and Veilance.
:^/

Errolson is definatly a Wunderkind in the area. As GG and 4D die down my bet is the standard Jap Streetwear brands (WTAPS, NBHD, Etc) will be the mainstays along with SPortswear Company and Acronym heading the tech-for-the-sake-of-tech field.
I'm hoping with the Syrian Refugee Crisis we see more prevalence of stuff from Final Home and others of the like
>>10986521
final home released their last collection and then shut down last year or the year before as far as I know
>>10986648
Really? That sucks, better go cop some stuff then
>>10986521
w2c dope techwear shorts that aren't priced insanely?

They no doubt have really hit their stride - and I don't mean any slight against the company. Erlsn and co and have always, and continue to do great things.
Actually handling their stuff and examining it you can tell that they really care about craftsmanship and the product that they create.
What I don't like is the 'techwear' aesthetic, meme, style or whatever you want to call it.
Detractors that have shown up in these threads for the last two years that said a lot of it looked like cosplay weren't wrong - and lately especially I tend to agree with them.
It has to do with the demographic that purchased acrnm going from a very small community of working age people that are very passionate about the brand to 'cool teens' with a lot of disposable funds that want to recreate an acrnm lookbook or GITS.
Looking through #acrnm and seeing shit like

or especially

are all examples of what I'm talking about. I'm sure these are all lovely people and that they really like the brand as well but it's just depressing to watch something you really like becomes this hideous parody of itself.
It's just all so boring and uninspired, which is ironic given that acrnm is seen as so innovative and unique.

It'll fizzle down im sure, Im interested as to how the Techninjas will handle the coming summer months.
Also that fucking 3rd image is probably the greatest thing ive ever seen
I'm a stagehand tech, I mostly works lights/sounds for concerts and all that.
I'm looking for effay techwear inspo that would fit my domain. Picture something like construction worker.
>>10987115
The few times ive done those kinds of jobs I just wore jeans and a tshirt
I dont think you really want more than that. So just Carhart, Carhart, Carhart
>>10987159
I need more practicality than just a pair of jeans tho. I have tools, knife, tape on me. I wear gloves, steel caps and all.
>>10987379
Dustrial should be doing UI graphics for sci-fi games, not making dumbass graphic tees for people who want to look like the future.
>>10986945
Those are dope.. I have been searching for shorts with zipper pockets for a long time.
My only issue is that I need a short inseam because my legs are not very long compared with my torso, and those look kinda long.
bump to prevent spam death
>>10987115
I would be way too scared to ruin expensive pieces while working.
>>10987103
here's some summer techwear inspo for you
>>10987103
shit is embarrassing dude.
>>10987006
the techwear "aesthetic" isn't a bad thing in my opinion, but I'd love to see more diversity instead of either military inspired shit or the GG tank under an acronym shell stuff
>>10987115
I usually wear Prana pants for stagehand stuff, although their little cargo pocket is kinda useless. If it's warm, just a tee shirt, if it's cold, some baselayer and a work shirt over it. Outlier pants or similar are nice for lower-intensity work. Most techwear midlayers wouldn't really stand up to working too well -- merino is fragile stuff, although it does look pretty great when it's halfway dead.
Of course, it's a field that's full of freaks and weirdos, and most of them make do with whatever their personal style happens to be. The crew chief at my main venue is a typical crust punk, and I know people with all sorts of odd work outfits.
Just don't be the guy with baggy lightwash jeans and a bazillion Setwear pouches on his belt.
Welp techwear has officially reached critical mass of popularity. Time to move on folks
