Even when I dressed super dadcore in early college there were people who thought I was well dressed. Now that my style's a little more sophisticated, though still preppy, I think my clothes have become almost too much a part of how people perceive me. My ex got legit mad at me once because I dressed down for a day and she thought I looked trashy.

Boots, jeans, plain Ts or flannels. So no - I fly under the radar usually.

BUT, people love my animal/nature shirts. I get compliments every single time I wear one of those bad boys out.

Nope because I'm too skinny. I'm 6'0 and 130 pounds, so whenever I wear jeans they look baggy. But if I wear slim fit or skinny, I look like a bird.

yeah i get compliments pretty regularly. usually just on one thing and not my style has a whole. like oh that sweater looks so comfortable or whatever. but ive had people tell me i dress good or im dressing better and one dude say he likes my style.

What do people compliment exactly? The way my clothes look? I've been complimented a couple times by qts but what exactly are they complimenting? The way the clothes fits me? The quality of the material? I don't know, everything just seems so pointless I just want to go to sleep and never wake up, I just want a peaceful death.

I live in a country uni-town where (weirdly) surfwear is the trend, and only a few people I've met are into/read about fashion.
nice when it happens though, but I'm not too bothered either way.

I'm a complete fuckboy and my wardrobe just consists of levi 511 jeans and random button down shirts i get off the rack, as well as meme sneakers like sambas, nike, adidas basic shit

even i have been complimented on stuff before. not anything big, but just like "i like that shirt anon" or "wow cool shoes" or the first time i wore those solid color flat front shorts and someone called me a frat boy

receiving compliments is hard for a lot of people.
might be do to lack of confidence, they don't feel like they deserve them. Even possibly the fear of humiliation and paranoia. Some will be worried that they are actually making fun of them and being sarcastic. I've felt this at time even if the compliments were most likely genuine.

Now all i really hate is when they start asking where you got x from then follow up with how much it cost.

Yeah a 10/10 girl at my uni once told me she loved my necklace. Wasn't even talking to her, just browsing some books. Also someone recognised this Raf tee I was wearing and told me he thought it was cool. Also whilst traveling I wore a Hawaiian shirt once and had my hair parted in the middle after swimming and someone told me I looked like Leo in Romeo and Juliet, suppose that's a compliment as well.

I had two people in one day ask me about a pair of vintage Helmut pants. One guy was dressed like a hippie and working in a spice store so I just told him they were vintage and it was chill. Other dude was an Arc'teryx employee so I guessed he might know something about fashion. I said they were old school Helmut Lang and I got a blank stare followed by 'wut...' Cue my hasty awkward explanation of Lang.

When you receive a compliment say "Thank you." in a friendly way. Don't say "Really, you think so?", because that's false modesty and beta as fuck as well.
