I want to learn more about furniture design.
Where to start?
Get a book from the library
Don't it's autist tier. Plus you don't want to deal with yellow foam dust and 50 year old fiber glass.
You can have a nice place with everything from ikea/Amazon
>>10983956
Don't.
You will always remain a pleb.
It's too expensive.
You will never leave entry-tier Eames.
You will never advance to the upper echelon that consists of strange 80's prototypes made by a variety of Italian designers and were never published.
>>10983956
>tfw sitting on one of these right now
ripoff nittori version though
>>10983985
B-but I might be able to afford it soon.
>>10984108
Buy design compendiums then from Taschen & Könneman & etc...
And lose yourself in the rabbit hole.
But always remember:
REPLICA BAD
REPLICA EVIL
REPLICA BAD
>>10984110
I fucking hate replicas
>>10983956
What's the name of this kind of chair? I want one for my room.
>>10984461
It's the I_can't_google by I_know_nothing_from_design
Pretty obscure.
>>10984110
This.
Just buy a bunch of TASCHEN books, they're pretty fucking cheap and very resourceful for beginners.
This is basically how I got into architecture and art, just reading every book they has on the subject and then looking elsewhere for more specifics

kek
>>10984203
anyone know where to cop a similar one that doesnt cost more that 150€ ?
>>10983956
What kinds of things about furniture design do you want to learn about?
>the kinds of ways of knowing about the world that are special to the capabilities of furniture designers?
>the practices and processes of the activity of furniture designing?
>the aspects of the form and configuration of furniture artefacts?
>>10984461
Its an eames chair friendo
>>10985751
All three of those and in that order.
>be furniture designer
>design a really great chair that could be easily made in relatively large quantities
>make 3 of them that sell for $100k each
Why do they do this? Are they autistic?
Bump for knowledge
>>10986146
Because people will pay for scarcity.
It's annoying but they wouldn't be in a position to make calls like that if they weren't trying to make the most money possible
>>10983956
give this documentary series a watch for starters:

>Autist tier
Chicks love a nicely furnished house/apartment and quality goods can become family heirlooms. Do it for the kids.
>>10986146
>let's make mass produced garbage in china so that anon the pleb can put it in his basement next to the ikea couch
>or make a high quality product that is used by an exclusive clientele and makes a lot of money
hm i sure wonder
>>10986262
>doing anything for girls
>"family heirlooms"
>"Chicks"
yikes
>modernist design
If you're spending $$$ on furniture, at least have some fun with it
BUT BITCH IM BOBBY WITH THAT TOOL!!!!!!!!
Very /fa/
>>10983963
>Fatass autist who wasted his parent's money getting a degree he doesn't use.
>Calling anything/anyone else autistic.
Need a fa desk chair that's easy to clean and not cold to the butt.
>>10984461
Eames DSR, I have 15 of them....real ones
If you come pick them up I'll give you a few free if you promise not to immediately flip them (since they're valuable)
>>10986784
Literally everyone in America has a useless degree that they got with their parents money.
If Sanders gets his way everyone in America can get a free degree in a service econmy where everyone just cooks each other hamburgers for minimum wage which is 1 millon dollars an hour
And hamburgersare 1.75 trillion each
>>10986312
shut your trap house
>>10987806
This fucking guy. Nobody cares how much shit you have.
>>10987814
is this /pol/?
>2016
>thinking a knowledge economy isn't the way to make America great again
>>10988217
It's Sieg trying to seem intelligent, when we already know he paid his way through school.
>>10983956
you checked out http://www.hay.dk before?
>>10988217
Knowledge economy's only work if there is a disparity in the knowledge
That is the entire point of having that knowledge in the first place
Otherwise it's not marketable.
Which is what happens when all college degrees suddenly lose accredation and is merely a technical certofocate

>>10989132
Stop being right about things that affect us, it's scary
>tfw your tutors encouraged you to go to an Eames exhibition in london
>tfw you were captivated by the work on display and product design as a practice
>tfw slowly you're starting to realise how entry level Eames is
>fw what is taste?

>>10989708
yeah I've said this before, if you're even slightly into design, not even interior, you'll see that Eames and Barcelona chairs are cool but extremely over played.
>>10989725
How often have you actually seen barcelona chairs in person? On the internet everything seems overplayed.
>>10989708
I think to really appreciate it you have to know these production techniques as laminating & bending wood and casting with poly-resins were really new at that time. They used these new techniques and made some really tasteful designs with it that could easily be mass-produced.
>>10983956
this chair is so fuken ugly
>>10987806
east coast or left coast?
>>10990041
it's everywhere in NYC and it's incredibly overplayed. I feel as if I see them in hotel lobbies all the time
>>10990727
Candyland, because Sieg lives in his parent's basement.
>>10990745
yeah well thats the thing with half century old classic industrial designs
places of business utilize them and shit because they're widely accepted as being aesthetically pleasing and shit nigger
barcelona chairs, handkerchief chairs and eames too common for your ass?
then why the fuck don't you own any
>>10990814

because it's like totally safe to be in a base ment in california too!
