In this picture, notice the color palette. Lunarcore comes in many flavors, so to speak. But the underlying color palette is generally composed of muted, drab colors, sometimes accented with a little bright color, but not too much.

cable knit is a heritage look, try something with a really fine texture if you like wool. not as fine as a traditional cotton crew neck, but not as "hand knit" looking

Slim fitting cargos seem hard to find. I know the pic in my OP has levis commuter cargo.

it's pretty interesting. there are fits i can't stand, usually the all-white; but stuff like the OP looks phenomenal. it made me think of Stargate or some kind of sci-fi mercenary outfit. i guess i like the fits that remind me more of a uniform, military, etc. but lunar'd up palette.

Guy from OP pic here again. Here is how I did it:

>new layer above photo
>choose brush and colour
>using brush, outline face against background and hairline
>paint over hair, following the grain as close as possible
>go back to photo layer
>use clone stamp tool to erase face inside outline

I like this method because it draws more attention to the outfit. It always bothers me when I see people hiding their faces with album covers or Disney characters or something unnecessarily loud like that.

Hmm. You would normally wear bulky unisex stuff in space anyway so just going for a male fit, but maybe a bit slimmer to accentuate that you're a female. For summer it's harder, but for me a summer lunar fit would be something that would be worn under a space suit, tight fitting nylon and such.

Someone asked me to update a few threads ago on how I was doing with the DIY moonwatch strap.

This is version 0.1 . Was testing out the stitching type (by hand I am not skilled at this) and think I should move to a machine for the actual version. Not sure what the real ones are done with, I cannot tell by eye.

This is also using some green cotton fabric I got off old trousers. Doesn't work at all but I still haven't found the right nylon/nomex. It's also been shortened so I can wear it normally. Penned in the numbers and with more time and care I think I can get it pretty close to what it should be though I'll need some ink that can actually mark on nylon.

Currently using a 18mm NATO spec buckle instead of the real hardware, will need to find this. push comes to shove I can use one of the steel rings from a NATO.

It depends how you want to do it. You could lurk more and build up your own concepts. Or you could try and follow some infographics.
With 500, I would say get a pair of either:
Sage Nike SFBs
Or a pair of gray palladiums.
Get a pair or two of cargo joggers in black and grey, you can find them at h&m on your budget. The quality is actually not too bad.
Pick up some plain white and pale blue t-shirts. They can be cotton our a more advanced athletic material. Only get crew necks though.
Get a few NASA shirts and patches as well.
If you need a jacket, find anything that's pale grey or white. It should be made with a technical fabric and should be either very thick or thin and water resistant. You can deviate from this very far and still be lunar.

It's overall too dark to be lunarcore. From what I can see the fabrics are too drapey. Lunarcore uses loose fabrics to give bulk, not drape.
Some people were telling you to lose weight which is common here on /fa/. You're not really fat, but if you did lose weight you'd look a lot better. That being said, the bulk of lunarcore means you don't have to be a skeleton to pull it off. However as we go into summer you won't be able to wear bulky jackets, at least in the northern hemisphere.

don't buy into the nasa t-shirts or palladium boots anon. here are some good pieces to start:
outerwear: grey alpha industries nasa bomber or ueg windbreaker
shirts: distressed/used henley shirts
pants: light grey cargoes stacked to the max
shoes: winter/jungle boots not tucked in or the chunkiest white sneakers you can find

outerwear and shoes will always cost the most. a good headwear is a head wrap that only exposes the eyes. patches are a good choice as well for bomber jackets

Yeah that is more flight suit style. Too formal for my liking though, the yellow is kinda reminiscent of the nostromo suit from alien which is cool. Somewhere between old school deep sea diver and a space suit. Makes me wonder if you could incorporate some fisherman style into the lunar core.

First attempt at Lunar Core for Moon Monday/Lunar Lunes, I just scrounged around my closet to find stuff that seemed like it would work.

How did I do/how can I improve?

Any content is good content, so thanks for posting. The jump in color contrast from your top to your bottom is too harsh. Lighter grey pants would work better. Your shoes don't really scream lunar to me. The black body/white sole looks out of place. Your t-shirt is fine in palette but is too baggy, it needs to look slick and fitted. Structurally the pants are fine. It's a decent jumping off point but you need to sleek out the shirt, lighten up the tone of the pants, and go for something all-black (or all-white) for the shoes.
