I see that most stuff posted on here is for just out of high school / college kids. What about us guys creepin up on 30? Generally we're more muscular, more rugged, but we haven't quite reached dadcore and still have a youthful edge.

I've been out of college for years, married now, and a lot of stuff posted on here would look laughable on me. I'm sure the ladies on here feel the same. Any other oldfags here that can throw some tips and inspo our way?
>>

>married

Who cares, you're cucked for life.

Tuck your khols polo into your Lee jeans and new balance sneaks and keep telling everyone you're a male feminist
>>
>>10958098
>projecting this much

I take it you've never been with a woman? Being married is not like they show in the movies anon.
>>
>>10958080
I worked with a few male models in the past that were in their late 20's. Some dressed like children and others looked very aware of what they should be wearing.

With that said, don't wear sneakers and skinny jeans. It's not a good look for older men. You say you aren't old enough for dadcore, but thats exactly how you should be dressing.

Slim-fit (but not skinny) jeans with a pair of boots and a T-shirt. Its casual enough and will look good. Even wearing basics will make you look better than 90% of people in your age range.

The best piece of advice I can give is to stay fit. If your body is good, you can pull off a broader range of clothing.
>>
>>10958117
Yeah, movie marriages contain way more sex than real ones. Unless your wife has baby fever, well, I guess that's why man invented masturbation.
>>
>>10958117
That's cool, but at least I'm not a grown man who can't dress himself without consulting the internet

Rafwave.
Raf Simmons is very aware of how to dress as an older man.

Im 28 and like raf dress like a lad down the pub.
Today i was wearing a pair of slim fit jeans, polo shirt and white sneaks.

Thanks. I stopped with skinny jeans a couple years ago, usually go with slim chinos and a button-down nowadays. But I sort of feel bored with my style and looking to try new things. I'm in excellent shape seeing as I'm a fitness instructor, so most stuff would look good on me I just don't know what to look for.

I know we're having fun here at your expense because you're pathetic.

But I'm going to be real with you, we don't have to resort to marriage/serious relationships to get sex.

If we're interested in a girl and says she won't have sex outside of a relationship/"not the hookup type" as she hooksup with other guys we don't hang around in the friend zone, and buy them shit like you had to.

We just move on because we're emotionally mature.

Part of being a grown man is knowing how to dress yourself as well

That's not what he said, elaborate life story the married guy projects unto others in order to cope and rationalize his mistake /marriage
>>
>>10958282
As an older single guy, I can confirm that your married friends will not be inviting you to anything, as a member of respectable society or a reprobate. That said, anything they invite you to will be boring crap anyway—bad food and cheap wine at their place while the dogs run around or a rushed dinner at a reasonably priced chain restaurant. They will ask you what you're "doing," by which they mean what your career is (they ask this each time you meet up). They will talk about money. They will gossip about anyone not at the function. Hanging out with married friends is the worst thing you can do to yourself for many reasons. Most of it stemming from the fact that your married friends died long ago and now persist in a state of undeath.
>>
>>10958299
I was talking about the elaborate life story he bullshitted to disregard his detractor. Married Anon's married. Chill. Anyone who thinks marriage is a sucker's game isn't a reprobate or an angry virgin or whatever the fuck else might be said.
>>
>>10958314
Your vision of marriage is based on tv/media. You sound like a young, naive moron.
>>
>>10958282
It tends to be exclusionary because people who decide to get married have to tell themselves how happy they are every waking moment.

It's a facade, they can be fighting over the dishes or like salt on the table then run to Facebook and post a message about how valentines was amazing or what ever.

Inviting a single person shatters that perception and tends to cause waves in the friendship

It's hard to be friends with a single guy your age with a nicer job, car, house, phone, TV, gun collection, furniture and even fucking t shirts than you.

I mean I tried to hangout with one of my old friends from hs who never went to school and got married at 25. Dude never has any money and had to keep checking in on his wife.

He couldn't afford katsuya or going to neiman Marcus or even shooting at a range so I think we ended up going to like Applebee's and a cheap public golf range

Not even course like a driving range that's it

>>
>>10958331
My bad. But it is mostly young guys who've given up on being in a happy relationship who have this weird vendetta against marriage. If you find a nice, loving, loyal girl that will devote her life to you it's the best thing in the world.
>>
>>10958337

So you think you're cool because you play golf and shoot guns?

Bad form lad.

It isn't what you do it's how you do it.
>>
>>10958337
I live in a pretty conservative area, so almost all of my guy friends are married. At 28 I'm one of the last in my group to tie the knot. There's a couple of our that are still single or bounce from gf to gf every month or so, and to be honest their lives look miserable to me. They're always posting drama on Facebook about their newest gf fucking them over, and they don't seem to do anything besides get drunk and talk about video games.

I admit when I was younger marriage seemed like hell, but once you get older you realize it's not that big of a deal and the other side of the fence looks like shit in comparison. Making the girl I love my wife was the best thing I've ever done, and having my dad and family there to see me become a man was an amazing feeling.
>>
OP here. Not sure why this thread turned into a pros/cons of marriage thread. But can we get back to the topic please? This thread is for 26-32 year olds that can trade fashion tips and advice and help out some not-so-/fa/ guys our age. Thanks.

Where items that accentuate your figure. Slim, but not tight. You can wear sneakers, boots, loafers, boat shoes, etc for footwear. Just wear levis jeans, chinos for casual pants, chino shorts during the summer and things like that.

What's your budget? That way I can give you an idea of where to buy all of this.
>>
>>10958165
R9k pls go
>>
>>10958472

Thanks mate

The most I'd probably allow myself to spend on clothing is maybe $200-300 a month.

What kind of shoes do you recommend for spring/summer that would go great with both shorts and chinos?
>>
Don't wear stuff that is too skinny. The more basic the piece is, the better.

You basically have to slowly move yourself into dadcore by wearing more shirts and less T-shirts. More slacks, less jeans. More oxfords, less sneakers. This as all assuming you live in an urban area and not some rural backwater shithole.
>>
>>10958499
Would denim and chambray shirts be good options to wear for spring/summer? What about brighter colored chinos in red, blue, etc, would these look dumb at my age?
>>
>>10958534
Yeah that's fine, just don't wear jeans 7 days a week.
>>
>>10958357
It's that last sentence that bugs me. Most marriages end in divorce. Anecdotal evidence suggests even young married couples are largely sexless, boring shells of their former selves. Now, maybe all that ends up being discounted by a larger dataset, but I sorta doubt it. However, this observation suggests nothing about the observer; whereas, language like "devotion," "loyalty," or "the best thing in the world" suggests a very specific set of values that are framing your perceptions. It's fine to like marriage, but be aware of your own positionality when people don't think the way you do. Maybe those people have a weird vendetta against marriage, but you can't really say that just because they disagree with you.

$200 a month would be plenty to start building a decent wardrobe. People in this board will say you need to spend absurd amounts of money fot "quality clothing" but that isn't always true. I bought 5 OCBDs from Urban Outfitters (Hawkings McGill) 4 years back and they all still look new.

Most of my clothing is "budget wear" and I've had relatively few issues. I've never ripped my jeans or a shirt, never had to re-sew a button, etc.

With that being said, thing of the items you want to wear and get them on a budget. When you wear said items for long periods of time, you may find they fit your personal look. At that point you can spend a little more for a nicer version if thise items.
Since summer is around the corner (United States), I'd recommend finding some good chino shorts and oxford shirts. Don't go 'too' colorful with these items. The basics tend to be better. (White chino shorts with a light blue oxford or dark blue chino shorts eith a white oxford shirt).
>>
>>10958593
Ok. I'm kind of new to oxfords. I've only ever worn athletic shoes, work boots and combat style boots. What are some essential brands of oxfords and will they go good with spring/summer?

let the people you associate with and your lifestyle be your guide. you can wear vans, jeans that fit well, and t shirts that fit well as your daily uniform from now until you're 92. in which case, why bother coming to /fa/?
>>
>>10958638
Thanks mate
>>
>>10958080
I just turned 27 a few days ago so I guess I fall into this category.

This whole board's paranoia of aging is weird.

The simple reality is that "Dadcore" is a stupid term. There is truth that you should be dressing in a more mature manner, but really not much else changes. At this point, your clothing is obviously going to be more dictated by work than your free time, and you certainly want to have enough money to wear clothing that fits you and that looks decent, but that's really about it. I've always leaned more into menswear, though, so it may just be me.

As to the marriage discussion: I know people who are married, and it's true that they distance themselves. Same thing with guys who get a "serious" girlfriend, usually. The sad reality is that as you get older you tend to grow away from your friends. This is especially the case as your lifestyles change. Lots of girls and guys rapidly find themselves stuck in mediocre relationships they entered out of desperation - it's sad, but it sometimes means you can't hang out with them as much anymore.

I will admit, though, that the dating scene changes when you get older. I don't want to sound like some sort of fucked up MRA or something, but it's obvious that girls get a bit more desperate. Problem is, it's not like their desperation makes them more interesting or attractive, so it's still hard to find someone you generally connect with. That's why I spend a lot of time drinking alone, I think.
>>
>>10958652
Yes, and I have to take insulin injections. So what?
>>
>>10958666
Just because I dress a different way than some people on here doesn't mean that I don't have an interest in what others wear.

this board is so fucking lame when it comes to age and height. so insecure. And nothings cut and dry, everybodys different. What one guy rocks at 28 might look good on another guy thats 45.

>>
>>10958724
I feel so bad for you
You seem like you'd be shit in bed and a bore at parties
>>
>>10958642
well oxfords aren't exactly casual and not what you would call spring/summer wear (like desert boots, mocs, boat shoes).

it's hard to suggest things unless you know exactly what you're looking for. allen edmonds are a quality brand that generally concentrates on classic/standard silhouettes and should give you an idea about how much you'll be paying. if you get into designer stuff that may be trendier or more forward thinking, prices may double or triple.

if you need an overview on basic shit, hit up reddit's mfa board and read some guides. don't take them as gospel, but they'll give you an idea about the basics on shit like shoe styles.
>>
What are you looking for, though?
>>
>>10958720
Nope. That was a rumor, though.

>>10958815
Seconding Allen Edmonds, but it can be a bit pricey for some people. Worth the money.

Meermin is excellent for the price point but a bit limited. Sales on Johnston & Murphy and Cole Haan aren't bad, depending on the model of shoe.

Change your perspectives. I used to be a huge video game nerd, like online rpgs and stuff, and I quit finally when I started reading books again. I figured out that I only liked video games for the mental stimulation and after you have read some quality books, you will see how pointless it is to waste your time on some bullshit achievements when you could be reading. I don't know your main language but if you are american go for some of the classics there: Moby Dick or something by Hemingway, that should get the wheels turning.
Also, take up a fighting sport; boxing, bjj, whatever. You will meet new people and get fit at the same time.

Lad-dad is the way to go, especially here in the USA where people don't even know what lads are.

Pic unrelated.

Do what I did and slowly start making your own home gym. You can get a pullup bar, a bench, and even a squat rack for pretty cheap on amazon. Take up Starting Strength or Stronglifts and go from there.

I was a skinnyfat autist for the longest time before I decided to start lifting. It will open up new doors for you. Learning about fitness and showing off your new gains to people will make you give you confidence and make you feel alpha.
