go minimal on your shirts and pants + focus on your sneakers to get compliments. You can get decent shoes under 100 bucks with an interesting silhouette.

Top:
If you're a hungry skeleton wear something long sleeved, such as a plaid, checked or plain colour button down. Otherwise you can get away with a t-shirt, either plain or with a print, nothing extravagant or 'avant-garde' though. Black t-shirt if you're going to a club.

Bottom:
Skinny (but not skin tight) jeans in either dark blue or black. If it's a fancy do you can wear slim suit trousers. Remember to match your belt to your shoes, but don't tuck a button down into jeans.

Outerwear:
Any black/brown/dark coloured jacket will do really, preferably black as it's easier. No blazers or formal jackets and no trench or long coats as these are hard to pull off. No raincoats. A black bomber, hoodie, or blue denim jacket works well.

Shoes:
Black runners or converse/vans style if you wear black jeans. Brown desert/chukka boots or shoes if you wear blue jeans. Depends on your personal taste and where you're going.

Hats/Jewlery:
No.

Fit plays a big part in this, or at least it does to me.
What's the party setting? If I'm going to a night club I wear mostly black/white since it's dark af and the lighting is mostly colored which looks better on white. And in a nightclub you can get off with more gaudy stuff than regular parties. I have a pair of black waxed skinnies that have a sheen to them and look somewhat like leather pants. I like to wear these since I know girls are checking out my ass when I do.
Do you want to dance? I usually do and then you have to take that to account on your layering. Wear something you can peel off according to how hot it gets. wear a base layer than can be worn as stand-alone.

I specifically buy cheap t-shirts/jeans/shoes just for going out in.

Do /not/ go out in your sickest most expensive fit because you will regret it the next morning.

As for actual clothes it depends on your own personal style, can never go wrong with a hoodie, jeans and some sneakers for casual occasions.

Shirts are fine too, just don't rock up in a plain white button down with a tie or something, keep it casual.

Finally I'm assuming that since you're posting here you don't want to stand out too much. Keep your clothes plain, solid colour Ts, black/blue jeans, no fluorescent running shoes or shit like that. Bonus points for muted colours.

Note that this isn't the end all be all guide, basically wear whatever doesn't look weird, is comfortable and you don't mind getting it ruined.

Here's some social advice: Don't get too drunk.

In my experience people who don't go to parties much - or ever - often get too drunk (nervousness maybe?) and start acting like a dick. Not in a playful drunk acting like a dick way, but more like being verbally aggressive and insulting people accidentally. Like, it's ok to call your friend a fucking retard for not liking a TV show or whatever, but it's super weird and awkward if you do it to someone you just met. You know what I mean?
Obviously I don't know you so I don't know how often you socialise with new people, but just don't be a dick and you'll be good senpai
