I've actually been collecting books I've already read or (w/r/t textbooks) know the subject matter of - lost a lot of my collection way back in the day, now collecting hardbacks for fun.

I got a 1936 copy of Moby Dick - one of my favorite novels - that's legit amazing. Beautiful illustrations, appears to be hand-bound, just goddamn pretty.

I also found a 1911 book on metallurgy (which I know a bit about) that's obviously quite useless at this point but that has a ridiculously hefty quality to it. Love it to death.

both mentioned Camus, and he is a nice place to start, but honestly, if you enjoy what Kafka presents, you may find his conclusions to be a bit lackluster and unfounded in their optimism. I would recommend Sartre more strongly, because his journey to the somewhat similar (but less disappointing) conclusion is more enjoyable. Nausea is a good place to start.
