Why do clothes get advertised with models? Most people can't identify with how good a model looks.
Will there be a shift in advertising to normal looking models?

Sex sells, wear designers to look handsome so fuck a lot of women.
Doesn't make sense since its 2015 and that most grown /emotionally mature women will agress to have sex with you if you just ask them

Most people are deluded enough to think that the clothes are what makes the model attractive. They buy the clothes because they think they will make them look like the model despite their own ugliness.

American Apparel has pretty normal looking models, except for their porno ads

haha fuck no, why would a brand want uggos to represent their brand?

>sharp facial portions
>not fat
lol ok

That...is pretty normal? Not being fat and having sharp facial proportions isn't rare.
Unless you're implying that scrawny borderline anorexic nerds are attractive.

I would be more inclined to buy a product if the seller demonstrates how it can make me look good, not some 6'4" chiseled jaw guy who lifts and eats nothing but turkey breast. The prime example is with peacoats. I am 5'8". Is that really so unusually short that I deserve for nothing to be advertised or tailored to me?

Because it also transports a lie to the people: That "they will also buy the model looks when they buy the clothes". The majority of the clothes people buy is not because they need them, but because they want to buy the model looks.
I think it's pure dishonesty, and the only way clothes should be showcased is cut off at the neck or eyes blacked out like based Margiela did, hallowed by his name.

>I am 5'8".
Hmmm. You could be a gay bottom if you are skinny, have smooth skin and a nice face.

>Why do clothes get advertised with models?
Because people are more likely to buy and pay higher prices.
>Most people can't identify with how good a model looks.
Aspiration is the cornerstone of market economy and marketing.
Nobody would want to buy the trailer park fat guy collection, because nobody wants to be the trailer park fat guy.
Nobody wants to be average either, which is why perfectly reasonable clothes from generic stores have a bad rep and make people sneer if you talk about it in fashion circles even if the line between one cotton tshirt and another can be close to zero, but hundreds of dollars in "value".
>Will there be a shift in advertising to normal looking models?
No. Even tumblr don't want to buy shit advertised with ugly people.
The most famous fugly model is Tess Holiday, a walking heart attack. She's only a model because miraculously she has a thin face on a lardass body. If she looked like the average obese person she couldn't model a thing. Even then, she's the only known obese model as a novelty.

>how it can make me look good
It won't if your body looks pig disgusting.
