His old stuff really isn't that bad at all. I haven't listened to him in years, so I wouldn't know about any of his recent works, but "Big" was one of my favorite albums for a bit when it came out back in high school. He does some interesting stuff with his production and sampling too, and I like him as a person. I think his main problem was getting too popular with the wrong crowd suddenly (ie rich high school aged future sorority chicks and frat bros) and then pandering to them almost entirely. As I said, he became one of those people like Drake who I just stopped listening to entirely so I have no idea how his newer stuff is; but I imagine it's exactly the music you would think of when you look at his fans, and I think he could've become a much, much better artist had he stuck more to his roots musically.
