My best advice for when washing your hair is to go 3 days of just conditioner and on the third day use shampoo.

you could try using some hair moisturizer or even good ol fashion olive oil washed through it.

It can also be what you're eating that causes it also.

Pick up some Argan oil and run a decent amount through your hair as soon as it dries post shower. Let it sit for a few then add your product, style and hit the road.

I have the same hair type and fought this battle for a while. No poo + conditioning 2/3 times a week (after my hockey games) and using argan oil daily has really helped.

well if you're adamant about growing it i'd recommend having the back and sides cut since it currently looks as if it's all about the same length

Where do I go from here? I just haven't cut my hair in like a year. Maybe a day of the week it ends up looking good down like this, they rest of the time it's just a poofy, curly mess. Lately I've just been putting the back in a bun and tucking the rest into a hat. I either need a wonder product or a cut. Start up on a skincare regime and sort your hair out. It looks shiny and poorly cared for. I'd recommend no poo, but it doesn't work for everyone. Also, change shampoos.

And for the actual shape/length, it doesn't look like you have a "hairstyle," it just kinda looks like you let it grow and don't mind it. I'd thumb through some photos on the sticky and find a haircut you like, then bring it into the salon/barbershop and get it cut. Learn how to style it and experiment with different products. Stay away from gels.
