So my skin is both excessively dry and oily at the same time.
My nose and forehead tend to be extremely oily, whereas my cheeks and the area around my nose is dry.
What do I do to stop this?
>>
>>10602285
Combination skin my brother.

I've found it pretty hard to find a product that deals well with both. For my current regime, which is easily my best so far, I use a neutrogena combination oil free moisturiser and make sure to use sunscreen on sunnier days. I was skeptical of neutrogena because I've usually used more expensive or natutal products, but I've found I'm no longer oily by the end of the day and only occasionally a bit dry.

The last thread hit +310 after 2 weeks. You guys didn't let it die. Superb.

Gonna add some more info from different posts:
How diet may affect acne (mostly about dairy and high GI foods):

Also, I compiled all kinds of info here:
http://hastebin.com/raw/ezuzusoziq

The above doc brings up:
- How sleep deprivation affects aesthetics
- How sun affects skin aging
- Does masturbation -> testosterone -> acne?
- If you should get a tan to improve your acne
- Toxic ingredients in skincare products, and why you don't need to give a fuck
- About parabens & if CeraVe is still good

ask a doctor for advice. a gp/dermatologist/plastic surgeon.

you generally can't simply apply some "cream" or similar to tighten that amount of thick skin. I don't think it's noticeable though. If you would have asked "how do I get rid of the scars on my arm" I wouldn't have noticed the skin by the armpit.

for eczema: go to a pharmacy. find some eczema-specific cream containing glycerin, lactic acid, and/or urea.

>>10602437
wrote about that here
https://warosu.org/fa/thread/S10469573#p10469656

if you want to go with ordinary sun, then you got to choose (to some extent) between looking good now - and looking good for a longer period of time.

>>10602447
based anon,

please note that you can find product recommendations in the general guide. the stuff there is great, and should work for you. if you're looking for more suggestions, search on Amazon and sort by review score.

what I use:
cleanser: DIY pH-balanced synthetic wash
toner: DIY AHA/BHA mixture
moisturizer: DIY glycerin-based lotion, and occasionally liquid paraffin.

In the summertime: Kiehl's Ultra Light Daily UV Defense SPF 50 (no sunscreen at all in the winters. this only works for people on my latitude though.)

gonna add some retin-a + vitamin c to it as well.

>>10602457
basic wash + mild exfoliation twice daily . stridex should work fine. clay masks is an option, too, 1-2 times a week. don't forget to moisturize at least once daily.

if you can't be fucked to do all that, just use stridex 1-2/day

>>

>>
>>10602806
It depends on what's in them. Silicone creams work to an extent (controversial). For most scars you'll need something that's a bit more powerful.

https://warosu.org/fa/thread/S9372965#p9379839

If you have a scar you'd like to get rid of, protect it from sun and see a dermatologist. Plenty of options there.

good luck getting a doctor to prescribe you accutane unless your acne is bad. i've had acne for 20 years now. took 3 rounds of it and my acne still came back.

You are still exposed to UV even when you're tilted away and spending most of the time in darkness. LESS UV for sure, but you should still wear sunscreen. Especially if you're out skiing or snow shoeing. Sunscreen is such an easy way to lower your risk for cancer and keep your skin from aging all gnarly.

See a dermatologist. Be prepared to recount everything you've tried. It may be a hormonal issue, it may be something else.

The important thing to note is that if your issues don't go away no matter what and you still get a lot of acne despite being cleanly it may indicate a more serious issue or deficiency.

I'm not saying go because your skin is shit, I'm saying go because you may have bigger problems. Investigate it.

It depends a bit on your latitude, how cautious you are, and how much you're outside and exposed to snow.

>In the winter half-year indoor workers received a negligible UV dose from solar exposure in Denmark and needed no UV precautions. No UV precautions are needed from November to February during holidays to latitudes above 45 degrees N, while precautions are needed the whole year around at lower latitudes.

Vitamin C is one of the best things I have ever used on my face. I used it after dermarolling but I got lazy and stopped using it after the vit c was empty. Too expensive imo.

I used to have super oily skin. I bought Cetaphil Gentle skin cleanser + sponge (pic related) and the texture of my skin changed in just a week. It also gets less oily.
for moisturize I use cerave lotion, sunscreen is shiseido 50++++ or something.
and then the lava mask from kyoku 2 days a week.
I also bought a pore reducing serum and an oil control lotion from kyoku, and for when im out I use blotting paper.
I'm also thinking of getting this >>10609053

Alright. Every once and a while I get some acne on my chest and sometimes in the area just below my sternum and I treat it like normal and it heals pretty quickly.
However they almost always leave a red mark of dry skin that stays for like 4times the length of time the actual pimple was there.

Do you guys have any input? I've been just putting cerave lotion and sometimes aloe vera gel on it, but I'm worried I'm just over-medicating the area and I'm thinking if just letting it fade completely naturally, though that seems like it will take forever. They are more scab-like than pimple at this point.

It was hard to take a visible picture of myself or find something really similar, but what this person has on their cheek is sorta close. The marks aren't raised at all, just reddish.

thanks guys

the betamethasone(very very strong cortisone) w/clortrimazole (antifungal) cream worked wonders but you're not supposed to use it for more than 14 days and I've probably used it for 50, but since I've stopped it's coming back
I am going to use that cream again until this shit goes away then I'll give the vinegar a try
I asked just in case someone has had something similar, looks like this but on the forehead too

Just skin dude. Like asking why do you get that ripple effect on your skin when you turn your neck. Just ones thoughs things that happens.
>>
>>10623475
yes, I alllways use one, it's good for helping closing any real small nicks you got, and it's just a nice finish to a shave since it's an astringent and a sanitizer

I also like the way it feels like I sorta "finished" my shave when i put it on.

I just finish shaving, wipe up any shaving cream that's left over, wet the alum block, rub it over my wet/damp face and leave it on while i straighten up everything, so not very long, then cold water the alum off and apply aftershave

can someone give me some solid advice on sun bed safety? i live in a country that has an unhealthily low amount of sunlight. i don't care about getting a tan like the jersey shore guys, i only want to be able to maintain some colour and skin tone evenness during the cold months. i'll probably use a sun bed one every two weeks or something to play it safe. but in terms of actually getting in there, i have no idea what is safe because salons say tanning is great and dermatologists say tanning is hitler. any info here lads?

when you go tell them you want one of the beds that doesn't fry you as much. They have different types, the ones that require you to lay in longer are generally better on your skin.

I'm 19 and still hormonal as fuck, and despite all my best efforts my acne isn't going away.

Routine

Morning
>Cleanser (Cetaphil)
>Stridex Pads
>Neutrogena Moisturizing Face Lotion w/ 15 SPF

Evening
>Cleanser (Cetaphil)
>Stridex Pads
>2.5% BP
>Eucerin Moisturizer

Any input? The root of all my problems seems to be that my skin produces WAY too much sebum, and any other issues (blackheads, pimples, etc) arise from that. I don't drink milk or eat dairy, and I recently cut coffee out of my diet. I eat pretty healthy, I most certainly get enough nutrients.

I have no insurance, so I can't afford a dermatologist either, so that's out of the question. Any advice will be highly appreciated.

>>10631529
Nivea Men SPF 15. It's cheap and works well enough.

>>10631915
No. Skin in the face is generally more sensitive than your body skin.

>>10632001
Try only using the Stridex pads at night or even every other night as they dry your skin out and your body compensates by increasing oil production. You may also want to try those oil absorbing sheets and use it frequently.

Also, change your pillow sheets every day. I recommend using a large, clean t-shirt as replacement.

So I've had some problematic acne (mild cystic) in the past not really bad but just annoying (had also caused some scaring), and my doctor had proscribed me an antibiotic (Minocyline) and Clindamycin pledgets. After 2 months of that my face had cleared up significantly, I hardly get breakouts anymore. I have picked up a basic routine to do for now on from the guide, the cashier lady thought I was "insane for buying thirty dollars on cosmetics" (cetaphil cleanser, stridex pads, cerave moisturizer and nutragina sunscreen.) I do still have left over plegets my question is should I continue to use these and how should I go about doing that? Should I use them simultaneously with the stridex pads or instead of them for now?

TL;DR
I have Clindamycin Phosphate, do I use that with, instead or not at all with Stridex pads?

What am I supposed to do if I have both dry skin and acne? It sort of fits the description of combination skin I guess, but there are no oily spots. It's just dry, acne, and relatively normal. It also does not follow the "T zone" because my forehead is completely dry, while my nose, chin and upper lip area are normal. My cheeks on the other hand are very dry closer to my lips, then are dry with acne and start to get better towards the edges of my face.

I have mild facial acne one week out of the month and I had cystic back acne. The back acne wasn't strange I would get 1 or 2 big zits on my back or shoulders but they would never turn white they were just red and painful. So my doctor gave me antibiotics and they went away. For my face I use this magic tool called a comedone extractor and it pops the zit perfectly it also works for blackheads. Unclogs the poor without damaging the skin. In the shower I use tea tree oil hemp soap. My face scrub is called Alba Botanical Acnedote, it has peppermint and bergamot oil, aloe, salicylic acid, witch hazel(astringent), and it has crushed walnut shells to help exfoliate your skin. Then I wash my hair with Paul Mitchell shampoo and put Paul Mitchell Tea Tree oil leave in conditioner/moisturizer in my hair and a little bit on my face. If I have a zit I pop it with the extractor before bed and put a little Clearasil 10% benzoyl peroxide and tea tree oil on it and it's usually gone or significantly less visible by the morning. It's a pretty simple routine and it has kept my moderate oily face neck and back from having zits. I also wash my sheets and pillow case once a week. I have bad habits too I smoke a pack of Marlboro Reds a day and I am addicted to adderall, Xanax, and suboxone.I Take 25mg xr adderall every morning at 8:00 then pop an 8mg suboxone under my tongue fall back asleep wake up at 8:45 alert take a shower and go to class from 9:45 to 1:30 every day.I take 2mgs of xanax at 9:30 and I am asleep by 11:30. On the weekends I do an 8 ball of coke, no adderall, still take xanax, suboxone and drink about 30 budweisers and smoke 2 packs of cigs on friday and saturday. I am on the deans list and I have been off heroin for almost 2 years now. Am I healthy? on paper I am according to the doctor. I am coming off the subs, xanax, and adderall when I graduate. I'll probably drink and put shit up my nose on the weekends until I have a kid though.
