No, inconsiderate requests were the main reason why I was driven off. The nauseating amount of requests that flooded in from people who neither said, "Please" in their request or, "Thank you for considering my request", are abundant here, and in other draw threads. I can't imagine coming back anytime soon unless requesters show some form of courtesy.

Not to mention that most of these requests sound like full blown commissions and really, what have you done to deserve such intricate detail in your request? Most requests should write after the fact, "I'll take anything you're willing to give. Thank you for considering me and my request."

I admire the fact that some of the people delivering nowadays are gracious to even create a request for someone, but even then, the person who requested the piece finds the smallest little detail wrong with it, and ask the artist if they can go back and change it.

You don't deserve to ask that. Take whatever drawing you got and be gracious about it.Or, learn to draw your request yourself.

For those of you using these draw threads as practice, I commend you and encourage you to continue, but do it for the sake of you bettering yourself and not for the empty feeling of, "Oh wow, someone on 4chan likes my work!" Anonymity deserves whatever you give it, not what you THINK it deserves.

If somebody asks you to change something, don't. Leave it as is. Don't go out of your way to deliver something amazing for someone you'll never meet, someone who pretends to like your work or pretends to be anything but anonymous.

With the way requests are asked for these days, give the request the basic attention it deserves— for the sake of your practice, and nothing more.

If this is considered shit posting and my post is removed, then I'm glad I left this place. I only return from time to time to SEE if anything's changed, but it hasn't.

Three, I heard from another drawfriend on another thread that their quality requests are being sold on other sites, with the original request drawn here. And honestly, I don't think that's right. Honestly, the magic phrase spoken here that will always drive away artists is "Stolen Work." Mention that, and every artist runs for the hills, never, ever to return. High quality artists will never show their art here again, and those barely starting out will hesitate BIG TIME to upload their work here without first thinking about themselves.

Artists are wising up and going about their work a different way, a way that gets them paid at least something for their work instead of giving it away for free.

The ratio of deliveries to requests here is nothing short of jaw dropping now. 16 deliveries (some edits and doubles) to 88 requests. I was around a time when there were at LEAST 40 deliveries to compensate for the amount of requests. Half requests, half deliveries. That was a nice time to be around.

You all got greedy. This drawthread is no better than the rest of them. Greed consumed you, and you STILL continue to ask for requests like you deserve them.

It's not the amount of thanklessness that drove, and keeps driving artists away from here, it the amount of greediness you all have.

For a lot of us, developing our skills ultimately serves what we want to make. But not a lot of people can get there without having to use those skills to satisfy people's demands to survive. It's a proffesional necessity, so it helps if you actually learn to enjoy it.

Also, a request for free art is a greedy thing from the get go. Choosing which requests you like as an artfag and which you ignore is also selfishly driven. Covering it up with humbleness and nobility is nice and I appreciate it but it doesn't change the nature of the whole process.
