Yup, it's going to get a better grip once the size is right. I suck at modeling right now so I don't want deal with resizing after the bevel is added.

Are you retarded? Look up a set of brass knuckle dusters - they are. that shape for a number of reasons.
The curved bottom fits in the palm and spreads the impact so you don't break bones. The individual 'knuckles' act as a point of force to break bones.

I laminated a section of Hickory- which is a great shock resister on the inside edge and there's a length of African Wenge on the outside edge which has some pretty awesome compression properties. Both are stained black and then I did 5 coats of 2-pack polyurethane over the top, its also got cotton thread around the handle and near the top that I did a coat of epoxy over and sort of bulks it up. Then did the leather bind over the top of that.
Rest of the inlay and counterweight are brass. Head is 5 x layers of 1095 and 6 x layers of 15N20, has a really nice 'ring' to it.

Sort of happy with the finish, think in hindsight I might have done a few things different in looks, but overall really happy how it handles- really swings very nice and quite controllable with 2 hands (its a bit over 3ft long)

>>998674
Dem tables!
Make sure you give us an update when that's stained and polished.

Homemade capacitor charger with voltage control and hysteresis to avoid fast comparator oscillation when the capacitors are fully charged.

I kinda fucked up because the duty cycle is 60% and I can't change it unless I rip some traces, but anyway, works fine enough.

This is the first project that I've made so far, as I'm a complete beginner when it comes to making things.

I don't think I did too bad. I know it's not an original idea, but I was hoping this would get me into eventually making more complex things.

It may not be pretty, but it works, I had fun, and learned stuff.

>>
>>1000826
Well, not really. I don't remember seeing this stuff offending anyone before /diy/ was made - partly because the volume is so low.

Someone calculated the post volumes of several boards some time ago and the result was that /b/ dominated the site's traffic (duh), followed by /pol/ and /v/ & /vg/. The biggest anime-related board, /a/, was pretty small in comparison and lost to several other non-anime boards. Based on traffic, this site is thus dedicated mainly to inane garbage, general discussions, nazism, racism and video games. Mongolian paintings are just a decoration.

I considered it, but I decided against it in the end. If it was a case made for transporting it then I probably would. I might make one of those later. For now this thing just sits in my room.

Also, it's important for the reeds to be able to dry out after playing, and I'm not sure I would want to keep them in a tight environment like that. Definitely something to consider in the future though, thanks for the comment!

It's honestly not bad, I have a tiny apartment in new England with two kids. Luckily the landlord owns his own construction company and when told him my idea of making a little shop in my basement storage he was impressed with the idea. He comes to me for basic maintenance around the building and I get a good deal on rent.

I made this notched straight edge (it's for working on fender scale guitars) from some old kitchen counter trim I had laying around, the tools I used were a sharpie, a file and a dremel tool, you can do it without the dremel but it is quicker with it, making this saved me $81.76 (see link to StewMac for full horrific price) and took all of half an hour to make!

Is it an exact copy of a mask already in use by a company or person?, if so then provide a link so we can judge.

A direct copy of a company logo or emblem will probably get you in hot water but a generic mask sculpture will not unless as stated it is a VERY close copy of one already in use.

You could probably get away with selling them anywhere but on the internet. At least, for a good while, before anyone connected to Sony, Naughty Dog, or Crash Bandicoot stumbled across it. Ergonomics are often the reason given for using a mechanical keyboard, yet the keyboard you've made entirely denies those principles. You can talk about tactile benefits all you want, but when you have shit for wrist support, that all gets thrown out the window. Your keyboard becomes an abomination of form over function.

>Ergonomics are often the reason given for using a mechanical keyboard
I can tell you that whoever claims that mechanical keyboards are "more ergonomic" doesn't know shit about what they're saying.

Not to say that there aren't some mechanical keyboard designs that aren't ergonomic (see the ergodox or some keyboards from matias as prime examples), but you'd still get better results by using the same form with a membrane, since mechanical keyboards are by design tall as shit.

Mechanical keyboards are a pleasure to use, they're far more durable than traditional membrane keyboards and also highly modifiable, but whoever claims that they are more ergonomic than a flatter membrane keyboard is plain out wrong.

Im in the process of making a bottle cap catcher with a bottle opener, but I had problems with staining it today.

I left it on for about 3 minutes like the instructions said but when i wiped the wood down to remove the excess stain some of the stain came off and you can see the original wood color, whats going on? Is it that I put too much pressure on the wood when I wiped it down or the kind of rag i used to wipe it down. I used the blue shop towels that you get at auto zone.

Nice, I got on a real wood stove kick a while back, did some hardcore research into it. Ended up building a top lit updraft stove (well rather several until I got the ratios and everything correct), but those rocket stove types are pretty neat too.
>>
>>1003820
>top lit updraft stove

I know the forced air gassifier stoves burn the cleanest of any biomass stove. Rocket stove comes in second. I've been thinking about making one of those small forced air gassifiers out of tin cans. They are very compact. But, I need them for camping and forced air requires electric. Non-forced air TLUDs normally use a lot of fuel packed into them and I only need a little bit of fire that burns up all the fuel by the time I'm done cooking. That gives it a quick cool down time too so I can hit the trail agian.

Repairing guitars is what got me into woodworking. I would suggest start with one aspect, learn that, then another aspect. There's plenty of sites that sell kits with all the parts but you can avoid the more complicated accurate type things like cutting fret slots, refretting a neck etc that also take specialty tools.

At least you can do handles and stuff on it, the longer belt sanders with a slightly narrower profile are what most people recommend with a sander. Better wear, less heat and come in a fairly wide variety of grits.
Sort of have a love-hate with them.
>I love they do a lot of work so damn quick
>I hate that they sometimes fuck shit up beyond repair!

Mainly I like files simply because I can 'see' exactly where the materials being removed and mashing it up against a belt is a guesswork thing sometimes, but that said the belt/linisher has its place especially for the finer grinds and polishing

I also want to build my mech on of the days. I have very limited access to a laser cutter and maybe I can have my dad CNC me some aluminium case...

Also I don't have anything diy to show that's recent, so I'm gonna shamelessly repost my arcade cabinet from 2 years ago, sorry !

Yeah about 2-3 years ago now a friend had a garage, one slow weekend instead of mucking around on cars we made a dodgy forge and threw a few billets together out of 1095 and 15N20.
>Lot of smashing red hot stuff with a sledge hammer for hours on end and other various primal shrieking
He does SCA stuff and wanted a some for a sword and dagger, I made an axe and a couple of smaller blades out of the remainder. It was fun, probably wouldn't do it again as its a fucking shitload of work!

Also, for checking ventilation and structure.

Sorry for such a late response, I'm not a /diy/ native.

A quilt has three layers: the top (fancy patchwork goes here), the batting (works like insulation), and the backing.
The three are connected by quilting, which is sewing through all three layers, and a binding, which goes on the edge to prevent fraying.

Regular blankets are typically one, thick layer.

This video explains more about the construction of a proper quilt.

Wrist support is not ergonomic, there is no possible wrist support that will not put pressure on your carpal tunnel. Every typing expert ever will tell you that when typing you should at most rest your elbows, never your wrists.
>>
The only things I've made recently have been storage units for my garage made of bits of pallets - as such, they look like shit.
>>
>>1003199
No idiot, ease of touch typing, superior feeling and quality of switches is. Light, easily actuated keys also let you dance across the keyboard without needing full support for your hands.

"Ergonomics" in keyboards is pure compensation for bad habits. It's a while different philosophy, both of design and use.

And password keeper for myself. Because you want to use secure passwords but who can remember something thats 24characters long. So i have now passwords saved in the device and i can get them with couple clicks.

So far been using it every day. Granted it's not as secure as possible but way better than having your passwords on a paper or text document on computer/phone.

Passwords themselves are not shown on the device screen and the text for each password can be customized to show what ever you want. Email, Computer, Laptop, Game whatever you want.

Also the device is protected by 4 number pin. Later i will make some kind of lockout method after x amount of tries and even deleting the passwords from the device after enough wrong tries.

Here is demo video also:

>>
>>1000424

On a keyring it looks harmless enough.

I think you'd have to point it out to most cops and all judges.
>>
>>1007236
Actually it's way less secure than storing your passwords in a document on a phone, because your phone uses encryption hardware that's been designed by experts and rigorously tested, and your device does not.
>>
>>1007370
>>1007236
In addition, a phone using Google Authenticator never releases the password to anything anywhere ever, and instead generates ephemeral keys that are only valid for thirty seconds.

Authenticator is an open standard, and you can use it with any decent online service. You can also use it with PAM to secure your Unix machines.
>>
>>1007370
>>1007372

Ye, also not everybody people use android/apple devices. Not everybody use pin/shape code on their devices

Not saying it's secure. Ofc if somebody wanted in it they would get in, there is also security issues with services and devices manufactured by big companies.

Also while you have your passwords on mobile phone screen while you write them, people could still peek your password.

Not any means secure on:
-Hardware side
-Military standard
-Industry standard

But much better than staring at the list of passwords you store under your keyboard or on your phone and writing keys manually. Also much safer than using same password on every service.

So your philosophy is "build your threat model by addressing obscure threats and pretending simple and obvious threats don't exist"?

- >>1007236 leaves his device unattended for 60 seconds
- some guy plugs it into his laptop, or his OTG phone, and presses all the buttons
- some guy has now stolen all >>1007236's passwords, and >>1007236 doesn't even know

Adding OTP to his accounts and devices (it's supported by Mac, Windows, Linux, and every decent online service) would have taken less time, cost no money, and (instead of introducing brand-new vulnerabilities) provided protection from the kind of attacks that actually happen.
>>
>>1004930
Looks dope, where the hell did you find the locker?
>>
>>1003944

I just use an angle iron with a hole tapped for a bolt on one side. I can adjust the angle of the bevel radically with a turn or two and I just use a pair of molegrips/locking pliers to hold the blade on while I slide it along the table of the grinder.

Essentially free, works well, you can flip the blade over in seconds and it provides a heatsink so you need to dunk the blade less often.

Top tip is use ceramic belts, knock the edges off the bar with an old belt, then bang on a crispy new one for the actual material removal. Cuts faster and cooler than Aluminium Oxide belts.

If you can afford them and you can source them for your grinder, buy some trizact belts to reduce the amount of handfinishing you need to do.
