when I picked up that musical spectrum plugin for foobar I had noticed some notes in the bass line had fallen off a cliff so EQing gets me a more even experience

stick with a simple ported box, about the size of a coffee table.
those folded horn scoops the size of a fridge will give you bigger numbers to wank over but they're no use in a house.
