Hi /diy/
Does anyone knows how to change the chuck of a Makita Cordless Drill? After 3 years the drill bits slip no matter how hard I tight them... So it's time to change the chuck but no idea and I don't want to break any gear trying it in the wrong way. Can you please help? The model is BHP541

its right there on the blowup number 9
open the chuck all the way up and remove the screw inside

LOL I didn't saw it... I'm going to try this afternoon... Is it possible to use another chuck or must be original?
Keep in mind that the screw is very soft and easy to strip, be careful with it.
It's also reverse threaded, righty tighty doesn't apply here.
I also like to dab a bit of blue locktite on it.
If your drill doesn't have a locking feature, you might have to apply the Allen Key and Hammer method to get the chuck off.

Exactly, I have to use the Allen key...

By the way, the replacement chuck must be original? Or can I buy another anywhere?

Chucks are pretty standardised, but there are aesthetics to consider. So long as it's the correct size, it should fit.
If your drill doesn't have a chuck lock, and you want a keyless chuck, you need a split chuck like this one, or there'll be no way to tighten it.

Perfect, much appreciated your help!

the easiest way is to just search google or ebay for "makita keyless chuck", and make sure it fits the model you have
also we note: there's instructions on the Makita website saying how to change chucks

Fuck, I can't... I removed the screw bit when I try the Allen key it never get loose... Counterclockwise as explained... I'm with the hammer.... No luck at the moment... I don't want to destroy the gear box... Any thoughts?

Yeah, you generally have to give them a good whack.
