Casual DIYer here. Never really posted on /diy/ though, outside of once showing how I broke an axe handle splitting wood more than a year ago. I have a question.
I think that routers sorta meme tier here, right? Well, anyway, I'm in the market for a good router. Anyone have any recommendations? Also need a good router table, but that can be made and doesn't need to be bought.
I have had bad experience with Makita drills and sabre saws, so Makita is out.
Pic unrelated.

Routers come down to this...
Motor rating. REAL RATINGS look at the actual voltage/amprage sticker. For example if the motor says "3HP" on the package but it says 110 volt 8 amps on the sticker. Its not 3hp. 15 amps is about 2hp realistic in most motors like 1.8hp
So judge by the motor. Also the faceplate.. One that has a stamped metal plate at least... Plastic can be good but it won't be on any router that comes with them.
And finally a router isn't meme tier. Its the first real power tool!
