my grandfather had this Dr Pepper sign. I THINK it's a panel for a wall light from the 1960s-1980s, you put lights behind it and hang it up on the wall. But the problem is I literally cannot find this thing anywhere. I don't know what the proper coloring or lighting of it is. I'd like to know how one of these looked when it was new so I can try to restore it. Any info will be appreciated

Those typically had a 3 to 4 in deep aluminum frame that held a florescent bulb or two. No color.
you sure thats an illuminated sign? It dont look very translucent, what it made of, because, it dont look much like perspex, etc.
Hang a light behind it (any light..) - if you cant see the light, it aint an illuminated sign, hang it as is, done. Otherwise, xactly as >>939986 said, flouresent strip, or, for that, maybe a couple of round flourescents, Philips 22W Master TL-E (T9) Circular Tube - Daylight - RND example.
