what trade do you recommend?
>>
>severe learning disabilitiy

You, my friend, would fit in perfectly as an electrician. They are all brain dead apes.

>i think i might have a severe learning disability.

describe it. book learning? learning manual tasks? learning simple rules?

House painting is a good job if you can climb a ladder, and even if you think you are afraid of heights, a lot of guys find that it's easily overcome by going up a taller ladder every few days and after a while you don't even think about it.

I mention painting because after a few years of breathing fumes without a respirator "BECAUSE IT DOES NOT AFFECT ME", most house painters have moderate brain damage anyway.

Doesn't matter as long as it's union

Construction and building industry is actually probably one of the easier ones to live with, but its hard work physically.

As an electrician I agree with this post. Pull wire, connect the same colors, 1, 2, 3, and ABC.

Dye your hair, tuck your balls, dress questionably and get a job in the software industry. You'll fit right in.

Lineman here, can confirm, electricians are dumbasses especially when it comes to safety.
>>
>>1233984
>safety
Ugh. One upgrade project at my plant had the union electricians replacing emergency shut down switches everywhere. 3 got zapped in a week, because they didn't feel like climbing a ladder to lockout the equipment. They didn't get zapped bad, one guy got a burn and that was pretty much it. One guy was standing next to one of the other guys as it bit him, the proceeded to do it to himself the next day. The company got kicked off site for it.
>>
>>1233874

>>
>>1233987
Electrician here. Engineers fuck up more shit than we ever could.
>>
>>1233926

House painter here. Would not recommend painting. It is the ultimate of tedium especially if you have carpenters or really any other contractor working on the site at the same time. They WILL fuck up your paint job and you will have to do it again.

Side thing, if you have a learning disability you will probably smack stuff ur not supposed to and likely would have issues learning how to use a pump.
>>
Mate, you were made to plaster.

Carpentryfag/diyfag here is it true that you can lick your fingers and touch the wire for a fraction of second to see if its on?
>>
>>1233986
>>1234004
I've seen some really dumbass electricians 'insulating' their tools with tape or a piece of cardboard only to get fried because they were too fucking lazy to shut off the power.
>>
>>1234050
painting ext bungelow in silver lake, old skool man 30's 40's. old ass windows had like 6-10 pane's of glass. well a few were randomly cracked. glass dudes come and fuck up freshly painted windows. leave their broken glass all over my drops and just left. shit took days to dry. had to redo 3 windows
>>
>>1234066

Resi-fag here. I've heard of people doing it, but never seen it or tried it myself.

If Im really too lazy to go to the basement to turn off a breaker, Ill just ground out the box and trip it from wherever Im at. Still have to hit the basement once on the way out to reset the breaker tho.
>>
>>1234076
Ok. And what shit do I need to buy in order to make sure I dont 120v of pain. I used to do fencing but that had low as fuck amps.
>>
>>1234080

>what do I need to buy

Idk, what do you plan on doing? People talk shit on stick testers, but they are good enough for /diy/. Its a simple device, about the size of a thick sharper. You hold it up to a wire, and it flashes red if there is current/voltage on that wire. A simple plug tester wouldnt hurt either. Plug it in and it will show a different light pattern for open ground/open neutral, etc. A volt meter is a good tool that every electrician should have, but you dont really need one if you're just changing outlets and switches in your house.

As far as working on 110-120v live, just wear some thick shoes and make sure only one hand is within possible contact with the wire.

Be careful tho. Most US houses have split phase panels. To make a long story short, it is possible to get hit by 220-240v in certain junctions.
>>
>>1234091

Da fuq do you need side cutters for nibba?

Pretty much any big name electrician tools are gonna be fine to work on 110v with. Klein, Milwaukee, etc. Even power tools. Just make sure you dont cut multiple wires at the same time. I REPEAT. NEVER CUT MULTIPLE WIRES AT THE SAME TIME ON A LIVE CIRCUIT.

You shouldnt get tagged, but itll blow a small hole in your cutters

NZfag here, can confirm sparkies are lying rip off merchants that don't know shit. Honestly anon, forget insulated tools. Just flip all the breakers, make sure you can match the colours and don't leave conductor sticking out, easy.

Also
>burgers talking about safety with 110v

Kek what fucking pussies, I always work live with 240v so long as it's not a high amp circuit with something running on it. Even on the very rare occasion I get hit, it's just

>ow that hurt

And then I go on with it. 110v must be like a fucking fly bite.
>>
>>1234040
Only the ones who never used a screwdriver before. I started on the tools.
>>
>>1234279
Good to know theres other kiwis here, the worst ive goten was off a fence unit. The switch was busted and I got hit with a comination of high amp 120v and low amp 10000v. Couldnt use my arm for around half an hour. And my back was siezed up for about a week.
>>
>>1234088
There's an old saying about always keeping 1 hand behind your back, so that if you get juiced it won't go across your chest. Reminding you to not have both hands on conductors.

I've gotten hit hard only twice I can remember, and it didn't apply.
Once, under counter washer and dryer with washer stopped up. once I had then pulled out, I happen to lean down to look while resting 1 hand on each, could feel it going across my chest until I was able to get back up, only time I've yelled fuck in front of a customer. Outlets had water dripping onto them, but I don't know how the cases ended up hot and chose me.
Other time, reached under a dishwasher to get something that rolled under. Pigtail must have wired backwards meaning the neutral was switched, but everything else was hot until the switch. Never seen a bruise from electricity before that.

No it wont

>220v will blow you off it

No it wont. Coincidentally, one of the only ways to electrocute yourself to death in a house is to get locked to your panel. If 220v blew you off, then you couldnt get stuck to it faggot

The only thing in your house that can knock you on your ass is the capacitor in your microwave and probably AC as well
