I want distilled water in my home.
Not piped because I plan on moving but a source so I don't have to carry 5+ gallons back from the store every week.
I've looked at the home distillers and they do not satisfy me.
Either the voc collection/output is sketchy (tiny hole / carbon filter) or the entire concept is flawed (boil into single downward condensing coil)
I have come to the conclusion that a stainless steel moonshine still is the best option short of multiple distillations through a glass laboratory distiller.
This way I can use the still for other things such as essential oils and alcohol if I so choose.
Opinions?
Alternatives?
Thoughts?

I think the fractionating column will give me great results though i will probably install a valve before the condensing coil so I don't have to pump voc / methanol through the coil.

These things are garbage in comparison. Plasitc all over the place.
I know I will have some gaskets with the still but it is a much better option in my opinion.
And I can sell alcohol in the event of an apocalypse/government fall and make my own for medicinal use.

Reverse Osmosis Systems

Reverse Osmosis Systems use a process that reverses the flow of water in a natural process of osmosis so that water passes from a more concentrated solution to a more dilute solution through a semi-permeable membrane. Pre- and post-filters are often incorporated along with the reverse osmosis membrane itself.
A reverse osmosis filter has a pore size of approximately 0.0001 micron.
Reverse Osmosis Systems have a very high effectiveness in removing protozoa (for example, Cryptosporidium, Giardia);
Reverse Osmosis Systems have a very high effectiveness in removing bacteria (for example, Campylobacter, Salmonella, Shigella, E. coli);
Reverse Osmosis Systems have a very high effectiveness in removing viruses (for example, Enteric, Hepatitis A, Norovirus, Rotavirus);
Reverse Osmosis Systems will remove common chemical contaminants (metal ions, aqueous salts), including sodium, chloride, copper, chromium, and lead; may reduce arsenic, fluoride, radium, sulfate, calcium, magnesium, potassium, nitrate, and phosphorous.

I am unsure if you can run elements dry so I plan to add water level indicators in the tank and an automatic feed line and eventually making the entire system automatic.
