Basically this door was set up about 5-6 years ago and the plastic cover was not removed. As a result (pic related) the plastic has dried out and cracked. Some spots are still sticking to the door. Is there any kind of solution i could use to dissolve the said plastic cover without damaging the door and remove it?
Get a plastic scraper.
Try any of these. WD40, household degreaser, automotive degreaser, steamer.
If those fail, try White/Mineral Spirits or Kerosene which may damage the lacquer underneath but probably won't.
If those fail, try Acetone.

If acetone fails, sand down the whole surface and put on another layer of varnish.

If Acetone fails just burn the fucker alive.
whoever owns that door deserves what he got. people who don't remove the protective covers from new shit don't deserve nice things.

Maybe a pressure washer could do the job without involving elbow grease or abrasives and scratches. Pressure washers work fairly well with that kind of crap.
looks like another 5-6 years in the sun will do it.

There probably isn't a solvent that will dissolve plastic without dissolving paint.
Try heat or some mechanical like razor or boxcutter blade

If it doesn't catch on fire open a vortex and banish it into the Realm of Agony
