Transformer?
>>1230164
Aye. Somebody wasn't sure which one to draw so he mixed them up.
>>1230164
no, its a coil with an unspecified core attached to a bridge rectifier
OP, it's the secondary coil of a transformer assuming theres some other context to your image. It's the side of a transformer that outputs some fixed multiple of the input voltage, both alternating current, typically sinusoidal. The vertical bars, typically shown in between two transformer coils, represent an iron core, which makes the transformer more efficient because of magnetism.
If there is no other context, then >>1230167 is correct in that it is a coil or inductor. Also the core isn't unspecified, straight lines are iron, while dashed lines are ferrite and dotted lines are dust. But for it to be on the other side of a bridge rectifier is pretty pointless, so I'm assuming that it is one coil of a transformer, which is two coupled inductors. Often a circuit will show only the secondary coil of a transformer and specify what voltage comes out of it, as the primary coil of the transformer is typically at mains voltage. So assuming it just says a voltage, you can treat it like an AC voltage source.
Can we get any context, OP? Your first electronics lesson in physics or engineering? Or did you take apart your sister's magic wand and googled the schematic?

>4 diode rectifier with a coil and a core before it
gee, i wonder what this could be, OP
bought and assembled everything exept for that coil thingy
>>1230178
...how do you get this far into a project without even knowing what a fucking transformer is? How were you planning on powering it up after you finished assembling it?
Probably just their retarded short hand way of saying the 120V supply.
Solenoid with a core. Hard metal core.

hey OP do you by any chance have an electonics exam tomorrow? I have your exact image in my notebook. The prof said it was a transformer
>>1230156
It appears to be the IF transformer in a diode ring mixer.
Crudely drawn potato masher
>>1230178
Can someone explain to an idiot what that thing is supposed to do? Is it an amplifier?
>>1231981
It's a regulated dual power supply.
Anons are arguing whether the thing on the left is a lazily drawn transformer or something else.

QUALITY BAIT.
>>1232051
It is, in fact, a lazily drawn transformer. Nothing else makes any damn sense.
