The "dopest" thing i've seen these shards used for was to take the really pointy ones and arrange around a circle shape so they look like a Sun with sunbeams made of the pointy pieces.

Get a glass cutting tool and some epoxy. Cut your glass shards and epoxy to the mirror back. Also, get a China marker (waxy crayon thing, used for marking up metal and glass) and draw out your design first.
