How well documented is the glasses making process from the 19th century?
I'd like to study how it was done and attempt to recreate these sunglasses that belonged to Hyrum Smith from that time.

The sliding ear pieces are probably spring steel. The rest is probably just steel or a lighter equivalent. What material are premade eyeglass hinges made from. I would go from there, because you probably aren't going to fab your own hinge at that scale.

Thinking for the assembly, use of copper tape and soldering. The tinting is just one psrt of this build. Old premade hinges salvaged from thriftshop junk aint bad advice.

Grinding lenses is going to be your sticking point.
Silicosis was a prominent affliction of early lens makers. Alot like mesothelioma and black lung only there is no government settlement fund.
